Bought an HTC Touch off ebay last week and have been downloading some free tools/games etc. Used €130 delivered. Perfect condition. :D

Got some good games off freewarepocketpc.net.

And found how to get youtube and flash working by going to http://discussion.wmexperts.com/showthread.php?t=148801.

Can anyone else recommend apps which they find must haves? (such as something to make the virtual keyboard bigger or making creating texts easier or whatever...)

Here's a link to info and download of cab file for htc diamond keyboard:
http://forums.ixplora.com/index.php?showtopic=12 beats the older htc keyboards!!!

must have app in my opinion: dinarsoft's "MemMaid"... A cleanup and tweak utility for wm. It frees up ram, uninstalls apps completely (i.e. No nasty leftovers in the registry etc etc...)!!! It's not free, but the trial is not limited for 10 days, so if you don't wanna buy it, download the trial version AFTER you have experimented with new apps!!!! You won't recognise your phone afterwards - much faster!!!

instead of wm media player install mortplayer - very finger-friendly!!! (free)
or S2P player (similar to iphone's player...good, fingerfriendly and easy 2 use)

    Thanks for the Diamond keyboard.
Very iphone-ish the way it responds.
Never liked other soft keyboards but this doesn't look bad.

    Good WM apps:
spb mobileshell 2.0 to make programs easier to access.

    Google maps.

    Java Gmail app.

Yahoo Go 3.0: Nice app that bundles together Yahoo mail, Flickr, news, weather etc.

    Opera mini java app.

    Opera Mobile.

spb gprs monitor: self-explanatory, very nice.

Worldmate Pro: Arguably the best travel app around.

Vtap: Great little app for accessing Wiki articles quickly or videos off the net.

    Tomtom: Brilliant satnav.

GSPlayer: Music player that plays back radiostations (PLS files) and it's free.

    Currency converter:
    Self-explanatory

Mortplayer (free mp3 player): The touch should have a decent audio manager though.

    TCPMP: Best video player (free).

Flexmail: Nice alternative email app if you're sick of outlook.

Flashvideobundle: to play back Youtube videos on TCPMP.

    Fizzweather/
    Weatherwatchermobile: weather apps.

Tomeraider 3/isilo: for reading reference works.

iGo Nav N' Go 2008 is also a great GPS app, far better than iGo 2006, it has 3d buildings, even for ireland, nice touch, maps are band up to date too

Many thanks for all the apps. Still downloading and installing, theres so many.

PointUI is the only app not listed that looks good. I'm trying both it and SPB mobile shell.

Any one every tempted to do or have done a ROM update such as listed here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364901

Lots of new features added but I'd be afraid of wrecking the phone. Maybe when I'm a bit more mobile savvy.

PointUI is very fast, but a lot more superficial than mobile shell2 which is also more stable (had some freezes and closing apps with pointUI :( )...

    Totally forgot about PointUI.
PointUI would probably be the best free alternative to mobileshell.

Always felt it was a bit peculiar though- like it had a mind of its own or something.
Not bad for a free app though.

FWIW a couple of others that might be useful:

PHM Regedit: Free registry editor (very handy).

pnotepad: Free (better?) alternative to the inbuilt notes app.

Resco's audiorecorder app: records phone calls.

BART: Dublin Bus and rail times in Ireland.

    Skype and Fring.

Also two others that might be of use if you travel a lot:

Metro: Free app for navigating transport systems/
undergrounds in cities around the world.

Admittedly there may be better transport apps around but the above is free.

    Lingvosoft phrase books.

BTW can anyone recommend a good TV guide app?
I've looked around but can't find any at all.
    Any info appreciated.
