region 1 dvd???

    Forgive me as I am sure this has been asked before but I did check the stickies and couldnt find any mention. question is:
    what are the chances of, or what sort of dvd player do i need to play a region 1 dvd here in southern ireland?? are most modern dvd players now multi region? how do I know if my dvd player is multi region? I really want to buy a dvd for my son but everywhere I look it is only on region 1 (some sites say it MAY play on multi region players)
    advice please:)

    If its a branded player - sony etc its unlikely region free.Your best bet is to get a multi region player.I got a powerpoint one 3 years ago and its still going strong.It only cost me 50 quid too.

    Google the model name and something like "region free code" to check out if there is a way to make it region free. Very often is, could just be a quick code.
