ok, I have to reply to this. I was in Santa Ponsa only 2 weeks ago. It was my first visit in ten years and from what I experienced it has improved immensely. Yes, everything boomboombazza has mentioned is there in abundance but so is alot of other stuff. Santa Ponsa is not just leaving certs, although if you go to certain bars it will be, I avoided these bars, its quite easy as you can spot them a mile off.

There's activites/bars/restaurants there to suit everyone from the elderly to young families to couples to groups of young people. You can drink every night in a bar full of 16 yr olds drunk on jugs of fat frogs or you can have a quiet drink in one of the bars overlooking the beautiful bay. You can dine in mcDonalds every day or try some paella in a small family run restaurant. Laze by the pool, go to the beach, find an off the track cove, whatever takes your fancy.

Site seeing and shopping trips around the island are plentifull and well worth taking, shopping in palma, the inca market, there's caves, an old railway, etc. Santa Ponsa is what you make it, I'm a 24 yr old female and was there alone and I would recommend it to anyone. When I hear peoples stories of leaving certs (I must admit I was scared of this too!) I have to laugh because thats not the holiday I had at all. Pick the right hotel and go with the right attitude and you'll be fine.

Was there before in early June so your experience of Santa Ponsa may be very different to mine in regard to the amount of teenagers holidaying at that time but as another poster has said Santa Ponsa is what you make it, there is lots to see and do depending on your interests. Thers's loads of things to choose from- 2 waterparks(personally wasn't very impressed with Western Park, Aqualand was brilliant though), dolphin, seal and parrot shows in Marine Land, there's shopping in Palma and Inca market although shoppping wouldn't be top of my priorities on holiday so I can't really comment on those, the Pirates show which I think people of all ages and interests would enjoy and if your more interested in culture, art and exploring there is trips to the cathedral, boat trips, visits to caves, trains etc.

Again there is a good choice of pubs, Of course you'll have a lot of Irish pubs with rebel bands playing but places like Bar Code 7 have different acts every night from tribute bands to blues singers, had some really enjoyable nights in there and the bar staff are really friendly.

As I said the atmosphere at that time of year may be more lively and geared towards the party al night types but Santa Ponsa has so much more to offer. Enjoy!

thanks everyone for your replys. at the start i was a bit put off thinkin it would be jammed with 15 year old kids! we decided to go there cause we are all between 18-20 and heard the nighlife is really really good! we went to belmadena last year and although the 24 hour square was good there seemed a gap in the market most seemed to be 16,17 or then the young couples(22+) so hopefully santa ponsa will be better!

Oh god! Santa Ponsa! A dirty dirty hole if you ask me.

Went there last year for the leaving cert holiday and although it was deadly craic for a few days it doesnt take long to realise its a total hole, totally infested with celtic jersey wearing scum and as tacky as hell.

If i was over 20 and going there i would seriously reconsider.

On the plus side there's a nice bay and beach which is beautiful.

And there's is often running brawls on the "strip".

Granted my experience of holidays before this was of much higher quality and family orientated stuff so it was probably just a shock.

I would never ever return though!

Hopefully inter railing will be where its at!:D
