hi guys maybe someone can help me!

myself and a friend are going to head off for a few days in oct/nov for a shopping trip to the states and i'm looking for your recommendations. have been to nyc before and loved it and would go back in a flash! but we were wondering is there anywhere else that is good for shopping and has good transport as we wouldn't be driving. we are looking to shop till we drop but want things to be close enough to where we decide to stay

    your help would be appreciated!

was in Orlando last summer and the shopping was pretty good, plenty of outlet malls around International Drive. if you do go might be an idea to take any tags off the clothes you buy etc in case you get stopped by customs at that time of year

    or how about LA?

it seems nearly every hotel on the las vegas strip has a large mall, walk out of one and cross the road into another

places like Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas and Las Vegas Premium Outlets are only a short bus ride from the strip

I'm not sure I would recommend Orlando for a pure shopping holiday. It does have a few great malls, but they are pretty spread out from each other, I think you would need a car to utilise them fully. I think a city were the shopping area is more compact might be better, what about San Fran, or I hear good things about Chicago?

wouldn't recommend taking tags off the clothes - firstly customs people aren't stupid and its very easy to tell if a garment has been worn/washed or not. Secondly, if you do get caught, then the prices on the garments will be your proof of the true cost of them. Without these, customs can put their own price on the items - which may well be in excess of the price you paid for them.

Go over with an empty suitcase. Buy your clothes and wear them as you go. This way the clothes are worn and dirty if you did happen to be checked.

I would go to either NY, Boston, Chicago or Las Vegas for shopping. NY is easiest and also nearest.

i was in Vegas last week and it was unreal for shopping, so so cheap.

The Las Vegas Outlet Centre and the Las vegas Premium Outlets are the two outlet centres and top brands are available at half the prices you pay in the malls. Highly recommended

Plus Vegas is the most amazing city, you can also get helicopter tours to the grand canyon from there which is spectacular

I thought Orlando was rubbish for shopping. NY is great and if you get out of the city there are some really great outlet malls. Got a pair of jimmy choos last year for $70!

    +1 for Vegas shopping!

A lot more compact than NYC....but NYC is good if you want to take in some of the sights too.

My brother went to Toronto before and said the shopping there was good.
Could be another option for you.

I would recommend NY-It's cheapest to get to and has everything you need really. The sample sales you can really lucky with too and pick up some great bargains- you need to search around on the net a bit for them to see whats on when.
Claims such as the above about the Jimmy Choos should be taken with a pinch of salt though. My girlfriend was searching for a pair in the Outlet Malls and Sample Sales etc and cheapest was $350! Still cheap but nothing like $70-there's no way such a high end designer would ever ruin their brand image by selling at such a low price.
