Sardinia - where to stay??

Booked flights to Sardinia last night, going for a week in September. I'd like to hire a car and maybe stay in a couple of different places over the week, but himself just wants to go and relax for the week. I always get my own way when it comes to where we go and what we do, so I suppose it's only fair that we do what he wants for a change! I'm looking for recommendations on where to stay, we'll be flying into Alghero and we are looking at staying there, but if anyone has suggestions for other towns/regions we'd consider them too. Basically we're looking for somewhere with nice beaches, good food and a few things to see and do over the week. Also, if anyone had recommendations for a good hotel, preferably something small and close to the beach, if it had a pool too that would be great!

We stayed in Hotel Florida in Alghero, great location and ok hotel, nothing fancy but had sea view.

The Carlos V looks very good, it was closed for renovations when we were there.

Would recommend renting a car, loads of places for day trips.

Also consider taking the ferry to Corsica - only takes about 30 mins.

Also stayed in Hotel Florida! check it out on Tripadvisor. Its standard enough hotel but right across from the beach. It is about 15 mins walk to the old town which is great. You will need a car to see the coast which is also great.

Both of those hotels look lovely and are available for our stay, do you know if the location of Carlos V is good jimogr? You know the way the descriptions can be a little vague!

I was actually wondering about a day trip to Corsica, so thanks for that tip too. I'll try to get my boyfriend to change his mind about the car, I'd like to see as much as possible.

Location of Carlos V is very good - its next to the sea and near town - the other end of town to the Florida.

I'd highly recommend the car - its so easy to drive there, and you'll be able to get to nicer beaches etc...

stayed in the carlos v, would really recommend it, quieter side of town but not too far and a beautiful view on the walk down
