Hi, i am trying to organize a poker tournament in my local pub for one of my communities clubs. I am just looking for small bit of help on the structure of it. There will roughly be 50-60 playing. I was just wondering about how many at each table and the blind structure any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi Daw,

I play a regular pub game that starts at 9.15pm and finishes around 1 to 1.30pm but the numbers are only about 30 at the most.
I think the structure is as follows: 30e buyin = 10k chips, with 2 buy backs or top-ups at 20e for 7.5k chips. You can tweek the buyin or the option of having buybacks to your own needs.
    Blinds are 20 mins: 25-50, 50-100, 100-200, 200-400, 10 mins break to chip up and buyback/topup, 400-800, 500-1000, 1000-2000, etc, etc.
I haven't played in a couple of months but i think thats how it goes. The organiser usually chips up at other intervals too as the blinds go up.

You would only want to have 7 or 8 max per tabel if its a pub as it can get cramped so your talking maybe having 7 or 8 tables.

    Hope this is some help.

Your best bet from me would be to ask someone locally who plays a lot and is very experienced in the game to help you out.

You probably need to give us more info though for better quality responses from the posters here:

Have you got a fixed timescale for the event? ie need to be out by midnight etc?

Are you making this a rebuy/freezeout event?

What's the cut from the prizepool for the charity/club?

    Do you need dealers/tables/chips/equipment.....etc?

If you pm the user carfax (Stephen McLean): Click Here

His company poker ireland can facilitate the whole night(dealers/tables/chips etc.) with a compact streamlined professional setup that's in no way OTT or intimidating to poker virgins/inexerienced players. You can also find out more on the website www.pokerireland.ie

If you have a laptop, download this free clock and you can set up the structure whatever way you want: http://www.homepokertourney.com/timer/timers.htm
