So for the first time in 4 years I'm on sick leave for a week.

I've a doctors note for it.

How does it work? I presume I get paid as normal?

No legal obligation to pay sick pay.

    What does your contact say?

Claim from the social insurance fund regardless of paid or not, you should refund it to your employer if they pay you as normal.

Not necessarily, it depends on the contract/agreement you have with your employer. Your employer is not required by law to pay you, unless it is an injury/sickness acquired at work.
