Im travelling to San Fran, and from there over to New York. Im going next week. Is it better to book a rental car in advance or wait till you get over there. My trip is 2 months long, so its not like I need to sort out car rental as soon as I land, but in the first 4 days would be nice.

    Thanks

I am flying in and out of LA but we plan to get a bus or fly to Vegas for a few days then bus it back to LA/San Diego - Heres the problem should I rent a car in LA as it will mean I have to keep it for a week in San Diego or should i just wait until im leaving San Diego?

I've heard that if you pickup from one location say San Diego then it can cost upto €300 to drop the car in LA??

Ive just been reading the other thread on car rentals and it has lots of info on this. It seems that some companies dont charge a drop off fee, so thats def worth a look. When are you going? Im off to SD late July and we're flying home from SF 2 weeks later. Cant wait for the coastal drive!
