Irish Open 2009; Three Ticket Playoff

    Hi all,

    Just wanted to let everybody know that we have decided on how our league is going to run. We didn't want to run a one table freeze-out in each location around the country as I always feel that a satellite tournament has more skill involved if more than just the winner get paid;

    League details/ rules:

    1. Top nine players as of February 2009 will gain free entry to an “Irish Open Three Ticket Playoff”
    2. The buy-in for the Irish Open 2009 is not yet set but last year the buy-in was €4,500 so this package is potentially worth €13,500.
    3. The top nine Dundalk players will face the top nine players from Dublin, Bray and one other location (so 36 players will play one tournament with tickets going to the top three finishers).
    4. If the same player qualifies in two different leagues he/she will be deemed to have qualified through the league of their highest placing. For example; If Colin O’Prey finishes first in Dundalk and second in Dublin then the tenth placed finisher in Dublin will get a seat in the play-off.

    Current Dundalk Hundred League Standings;
    Points
    1st 35 1st Colin J. O’Prey
    2nd 25 2nd Mark Doak
    3rd 18 3rd Sue Harrington
    4th 14 4th Paul Craig
    5th 12 5th Stan Smith
    6th 10 6th John Lawless
    7th 8 7th Paul Hanigan
    8th 6 8th Billy Johnstone
    9th 4 9th Chris Mc Cleese

    10th 3 10th David Mc Ilwraith
    11th 3 11th Michael Harland
    12th 3 12th John Lavin
    13th 2 13th John Dorrian
    14th 2 14th Liam Delaney
    15th 2 15th Sean Mc Geoghan
    16th 1 16th Colm Kennedy
    17th 1 17th Kiero Barnard
    18th 1 18th Michael Mc Mullan

    Thanks,
    Stephen Mc Lean.

Three Tickets added to the league!?. Or is their worth taken out of the prizepool of monthly games?.

No money deducted, 100% prize-pool payout paid at all our tournaments.

This is Poker Ireland money up for grabs.

Very generous. Maybe you should highlight that more!.

edit: how does the points scoring system work? Top 18 get points?

    Secrets of the trade :)

Only joking; everyone that makes the money will receive points. If 27 are paid then 27 get points and winning a 200 runner event is worth more points than winning a 150 runner tournament.

It will be done with the exact same ratios as the above points structure for Dundalk.

Note; If a deal is done it will not be relevant to the league (i.e. money off the top for 19th, 20th etc).

lol, yeah true enough, Vegas gets all the attention :(

Ennis, Co. Clare... ... Just going down in a day or two to make sure the venue is suitable... ...Its the Auburn Lodge we're looking at for 10th August first date, if anybody knows it and can give feedback that would be grrrreat.

now you can have my WOW!
how often will these games be going on? guessing the auburn would be pretty good for a game, if ur interested in tempting players out from limerick as well, maybe the clare inn might be worth a look at too, as its just on the outskirts of ennis on the limerick side.

Cheers for the comments mate....I am happy enough with the Auburn as a few people from the area texted me to say its a grand location and over the phone the staff have been just about the nicest I have dealt with in any hotel/conference centre.

The Auburn is still to be confirmed though as I am travelling down there on Friday morning.
