Newbie - removing shadows

    Hi
I recently purchased a Nikon D60 and plan to take some classes in the autumn.
I took a lot of photos at a family dinner function which have a strong shadow on one side of each person in group photos due to the overhead and wall lighting in the room. Is there anyway to remove these? I have photoshop elements, but haven't really used it much.
Any help appreciated as a number of people have asked for copies and the shadows are spoiling the shots.

    Thanks in advance
    Winnie

    Hi Winnie,

It sounds like you needed to use some fill flash when taking the photos.

There are ways that you can extract detail in the shadows in PS but there are limits.
