Westmeath Waterboy

I saw this but, as it was from the Hill, didn't see exactly what happened obviously.

However, as I understand it, almost regardless of the exact semantics, most people agree that it was a disgraceful act on his part. Should he now be somehow punished by the GAA?

If the Dublin forwards had reacted they would have got bans, etc. (A dub forward reaction usually involves something worth a ban to be fair) so why should this clown get any less?

Surely Westmeath County Board should be fined at the very least plus a sideline ban for the individual involved.

In no way should a waterboy give out water to his team, disgraceful behaviour IMO :D

To be honest,I think waterboys should be independent or at least limited to how many times they can enter the pitch to supply water needlessly.

Anyway,he got his comeuppance.I'm sure Tipperary Water won't won't be sponsoring him when he makes his way down to Tipp for the 1st round of the qualifiers.

I must have missed this... heard some mentions of their waterboy but didn't know what it was in reference to.

What actually happened, or is it more a series of events than an incident?

The waterboy came out to give water to the WM backs and Conail Keaney picked up a bottle of water and had a sip. The waterboy then shoved him and squared upto him. Keaney then basically had a few words with him and that was that. BUT the next time the waterboy came on he went straight for Keaney trying to provoke.

EDIT: Apparently the waterboy squirted water in Keaneys face too.

Basically the waterboy was actin the mick and should have been told offf by a member of WM management or one of the players should have told him to cop on.

lol, sounds a bit like when the Dublin manager blocked a WestMeath player from getting to the ball to take a sideline.........

Actually the waterboy squirted water in Keaney's face afer snatching the bottle back from him.

As for the waterboy, it was a bit of a non event and was nothing to get worked up about TBH.

The ref called over the waterboy at half time and had a long chat with him so the linesman must have told him about it. Silly waterboy.

They're not giving out water needlessly it was a hot day there yesterday and for players to stay on top of their game they need to keep drinking water. What annoyed me was he wouldn't share the water with Keaney. Sure it's water not some magic drink.

And I'm not being biased here just because I' a Dub but if a Westmeath player wanted some water from the Dublin waterboy surely he'd give him it.

Funny this topic should come up but you know these Westmeath folk have a history of being very sensitive about their water.Sure there was proposed plans for Dublins water supply to be taken from the Shannon in Westmeath as opposed to the reservoir in the Dublin mountains and the farmer Murphy's from the vicinity of the Shannon were getting their knickers in a twist. The reason being,is that there were some logistical issues and water shortages in Dublin.:):):)

Anyway,it was very childish of that waterboy. No class whatsoever and deserved what he got.
