I have a maxtor which is making some funny noises, I downloaded the seagate/maxtor diagnostic software but apparently it doesn't work with vista, are there any good free third party diagnostic utils that will tell me if it is about to fail ?

Can you get command line diagnostics and boot from a floppy or CD ?

Failing that ... this link might be useful ...claims to have Vista support.
