I had o2 on trial for a month but even though I was on the map to receive bb speeds I was getting dial up at best. Therefore it was a disaster.

I changed to vodafone to try it even though i wasn't on the map. Getting decent speeds off it and never lose connection.

Ping is very important and can be very high on these devices. Ive been using xbox live on vodafone and its not too bad at all. Playing battlefield and cod4. Sometimes it can be laggy but most of the time its playable.
So until DSl arrives at my house (soon hopefully) I will switch but until then vodafone will suffice.

Googe ICS on google or read through some other threads here to see how to set it up.

A friend plays on Live with a 3 modem using ICS and has had no problems with it. Not great for downloading demos tho, takes ages and you'll end up going over the monthly download limit.

Try it first, pretty sure you can get your money back if your not happy with it.

How do you go about setting one of the Vodafone modems to work with the 360? Don't they have drivers to be installed first?

You leave it plugged in to your PC/laptop and then set up Internet Connection Sharing on Windows. There is a guide here
