I have an almost identical LG to you(32LC46, i have)).I think its a great tv too.TBH, i'd say that sony would probably be a better set than the LG but there wouldnt be much in it at all(The LG is far better looking IMO).If youre looking for a sony, this would definately be better

    http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/Sony_Bravia_32_Inch_HD_Ready__LCD_TV_KDL32S3000U/version.asp

Its cheaper than the one on komplett(Assuming you are to buy from komplett) and its better specced. That model sony would be well ahead of the LG.Laptops direct also have the other one(http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/KDL32P3020U_KDL32P3020U/version.asp)

To answer your other question, the LG is a 720p tv but it will accept 1080p.I've wondered about this myself.I tried playing a bluray with the ps3 se for 720p and 1080p resolution and the picture quality of the 1080p signal was much ahead.I'm not sure what resolution the LG shows 1080p at but it works IMO.Unfortunately, noe of the sonys accept a 1080p signal(720p and 1080i only)

The Sony you mentioned to be better dosen't seem to be better than the one I was looking at. It has a lower image contrast ratio but it does have a 3x HDMI ports. Although I don't need that many as I only use 1 for my PS3. Plus I wouldn't order from laptopsdirect as I had a bad experience from them in the past and I find Komplett to be excellent to deal with. Thanks for the reply anyways

I never ordered anything from laptopsdirect before. Its just i thought their prices were good on some things but if their service isnt up to scratch, then forget them

oh ok well thanks anyways for giving me a heads up on their prices. At the end of the day the money ain't coming out of my back pocket :D If only I could get my head around the LG 1080p thing. It really boggles the mind. I mean it must be down converting a 1080p signal into 720p so there would be no difference in watching a 1080p signal and a 720p signal right? i'm confused now:confused::confused::confused:

    All those screens only support # Resolution - 1366 x 768 or 720p

You should go for something like this http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=333298

If it support 1920 x 1080 Resolution then you will be getting true 1080p.

Well, the LG display resolution is 1280 x 720 or 720p(Thats its display res according to its specs. Its actual resolution is 1366 x 768p but AFAIK, thats not a 16:9 res so it couldnt be downscaling to that, could it??) so yes it has to be downscaling to that resolutiion. In theory, because of that, a 1080p signal should give the same picture as 720p.You should try it yourself setting up the ps3 for 720p and 1080p respectively(You could try 1080i as well, i never tried that).Thats not to say, obviously, that the ps3 outputting 720p or 1080i into a new sony would give a worse picture than it outputting 1080p on the LG

well i've tried 1080p before but the results aren't that great. The games look like that the screen have been covered in Vaseline. 720p gives a much sharper detail. Probably because most games run in 720p

Actually, i never tried games at 720p.It would definately be better for the ps3 to output games at 720p(Most games only got to 720p anyway). The native res of the games is 720p but the native res of bluray movies is 1080p.So, ideally, on the LG, it might be best to set the ps3 up for 720p when playing games and 1080p when watching bluray??Actually, i'm wondering about this aswell.I hope to get a full hd lcd in the coming months.Probably a 40" samsung.I know this would make the movies look incredible but would this tv make my ps3 games look worse because if its native res of 1080p??
