    :Dhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/7479254.stm

Now this is interesting, former Middleweight champion of the World Jermaine Taylor has been mandated as the other challenger to Joe Calzaghe's vacated WBC Super-Middleweight title . Froch had been made mandatory to Calzaghe after Russian Denis Inkin pulled out of a proposed eliminator bout .

This is a very interesting fight, Taylor is by far the superior boxer and will exploit Froch's glaring defensive flaws . However this is the first time Taylor will face a true Super-Middleweight and Froch has both huge power and a granite chin .

Taylor might outbox him all day but it may only take one shot from Froch to turn it around .

While we're on the topic of Super-Middlweights I may aswell post a clip of the new Calzaghe, IBF Super-Middleweight champion Lucian Butehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWEhCEUJAL8&eurl=http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73754

For those that don't know Mikkel Kessler gained back his WBA Super-Middleweight title last weekend with a 12th round ko of Dmitri Sartison.

Despite what some may think Super-Middleweight is actually still an exciting division despite the departure of Calzaghe .

With the likes of Kessler, Bute, Pascal, Froch, Taylor, Inkin, Miranda, Braehmer(although he may go to Light-Heavyweight), Andrade, Bika, Lacy, Allan Green, Berrio, Zuniga, Stieglitz, Tsypko, Andre Ward, Andre Dirrell Victor Oganov, Mundine(if he doesn't go down to 160 or up to 175) , Codrington, Larsen and plenty of other up and coming fighters it is a division with plenty of depth and exciting fights to be made .

    So Taylor is fighting Froch

Kessler has a mandatory against Haussler(former European champ)

Lacy is facing Epifanio Mendoza who recently lost to Dawson for the WBC Light-heavyweight title

    Pascal is fighting Zuniga

Berrio is having another marking time fight

Prospect Karoly Balzsay is fighting Clavero who Mundine recently defended against . Clavero isn't up to much .

Andrade will either be made mandatory to Bute or him and Tsypko will fight for that honour , so Bute should get a decent test soon .

I find it hard to believe and did not know that Froch was next up. What a joke. I don't think Froch will trouble Taylor, there is a big gulf in class there imo.
I definitely would like to see more of Bute.

the way i see this fight going is as follows; Taylor will be well ahead on points, however, Froch will win by stoppage in round seven or 8. Taylor is clearly the better boxer but he woun't be able cope with Froch's heavy hands.

Froch gets hit too easy. That said he does appear to have a sound chin- at the level he has fought at so far. His power is also well above average. But his technique is sh!tty and his attitude is sh!ttier. Really hard fight to call, Taylor looked better 2nd time out against Pavlik but you know what, Pavlik isn't a million miles ahead of Froch when you get down to it. Close fight, hard to tell where Taylors head is at right now, but he really really needs to win this, has the experience at this level too.

If its in the USA- Taylor, Unan decision, 115-112.

Can't see Taylor going to the UK right now. If he does, he loses.

As much as the Cobra has flaws I do think he will can win this fight he has savage punching power and i expect he really hungry to win this match

I think froch will fight the fight of his life , it wont be easy but call me stupid i can see a late stoppage for froch

I think taylor might under estimate froch , I will throw a 20 on froch in Paddy power me thinks

that would be interesting to see.
As from Bg Ears link in relation to the to the upcomming fight says this.
The unbeaten British champion, who has stopped 19 of his 23 opponents, fears American Taylor - the former middleweight champion - may opt for an easier payday.
Yes its about money these days.
I think froch should fight at least 3 more fights before he fights JT.
I dont think Froch is ready for this guy.
Who is making the decision for froch?

Taylor's camp(Lou Dibella) may elect to go after Lacy instead .
Froch is getting on in years and seems to be in his prime, I see no reason to wait for at least 3 more fights(which realistically would be 15 months or more) before he takes on someone like Taylor .

Froch has been highly ranked by the WBC for a long time and gave away his good rankings in both the WBA and IBF(where he could have fought an eliminator for) to be where he is now . If he pulls out of this it could take 2 years to get back to where he is now .

He's either ready now or he'll never be .

I like Froch; but I believe he is still an unproven quantity. He has
beaten some decent fighters, but Taylor is a class above any of them and
this is when we will really find out if Froch has both the power and chin

Froch is 30 years old and has worked his way into the #1 contender spot with the WBC. If he doesn't take his chance now, he might not get another one.

Taylor is unquestionably the better boxer, and Froch is still an unproven quantity, but the boy can bang and I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop Taylor on his ass at some stage throughout the fight.

This is still all speculation though. Taylor will probably end up fighting Lacy instead. I hope not, as Taylor vs. Froch is an intriguing match-up and one that I would love to see!

It has been mandated for purse bids , so as long as neither fighter is withdrawn from purse bids it will happen .

Considering Lacy has been on such a bad run and that his last fight with Manfredo was a dire affair I think that HBO would nerely prefer the Froch fight .
But Dibella has his connections at HBO and if he pushes hard enough he'll get the Lacy fight .

I know Showtime would prefer Froch but Taylor is a HBO fighter and Lacy has been on HBO instead of Showtime since the Calzaghe loss .

Taylor v Lacy instead of Taylor v Froch is something which would leave a sour taste in the mouth imo . It would stink of keeping everything in the spotlight American and wreak of HBO doing it's typical favours .

I think people are seriously underestimating Froch's skills here. Don't forget he was good enough to win a bronze in the World Amateurs and you don't do that without serious skill levels. AND he did it with the hands-down technique he still uses.

A lot of people equate hands-down to bad defence, yet if you think about it a lot of the great fighters fought with the hands quite low - Ali, Leonard, Jones, etc. Froch doesn't get caught quite as often as people are insinuating and obviously he hasn't fought anyone of Taylor's quality yet, but I don't see Taylor "outboxing him all day" at all. If Taylor does win it will probably be on points but I'd say it would be quite close, but Froch's power is serious and while Taylor has a good chin he could go into a defensive shell if he tastes it early and then who knows ?

I think it's a very interesting fight. A real 50/50 affair. Hopefully it comes off.

Lacy is a soft touch at this stage. His last two fights have been singularly unimpressive, that beating he took from Joe Cal has seriously dented his chin and now he's suffering injuries too.

If DiBella takes Froch I will be extremely and pleasantly surprised. My guess is he takes Lacy, confirming Taylor and DiBella as the frauds I always said they were.

Lacy's rotator cuff tore in the second round against Tyspko, he's had it repaired but as the Manfredo figtht showed, he's done .

Lacy has no jab anymore and the 'Left Hook' is gone too, many mightn't say he was great in the first place but in truth he wasn't a bad fighter . But he's definitely done now though .
