    Hi folks.

I am looking for suggestions for a carbon Fibre tripod.
Need something light for travel but must be tall when fully extended.
By that I mean up to or close to 6 or 7 ft...

    Anyone usinig Carbon fibre ?

www.feisol.com one of the worst websites ever and one of the skinniest models I've ever seen, but I have a tripod and a monopod from them and they're good.
    Recommended.

Got a price range or a definition of what light is for you?

For something as tall (and light) as you are looking for, the Gitzo GT3540XLS comes to mind. 4.3lbs and 7 feet. Not cheap mind you :/

You could also search the forums as there have been plenty of discussions on this before.

Price is not an issue, its size is when extended !

Light as possible as packing it in a suitcase :)

That's about as light as you'll get for the size. What are you using it for that you will need up to 7 feet?

Very nice piece of kit,, I need it between 6 and 7ft as thats my height !
It seems to have a problem with Joints pick up debris.. as per the reviews.
that height is including the central column ? doesnt seem to say..

edit* The size quoted is without the central column so its far to big..

That height is with out center column, it doesn't have one. Gitzo site has better info on the specs.

While you may be in the 6-7Feet tall range, will a tripod that high do your subject matter justice? A lot of times lower can be better. You could save an extra 1-2lbs off the weight if you went with something in the 5 feet range (GT2530 for example).

I prefer a central column, I dont like the idea of having to shorten 3 legs to get lower and balanced, cheers for the link but its far to big..

As for the viewpoint, I own 3 055 tripods and need a lightweight one for travel. I need the height for the work i do..

    Cheers..

I paid over €300 for a Giottos one there nearly 2 years ago. It's a great tripod but I've only used it a handfull of times really, I use my gorillapod a lot more!

+1 for the Gorillapod, i bought one in Cork on saturday (the D-SLR zoom model) and have been using it all weekend, it's quality and a lot sturdier than you'd think...
