Suggest holiday for parents

I want to book a holiday for my parents and would welcome suggestions - budget for my two parents for the holiday is about 1000e. Also might have two twenty year olds coming also ( so it would be four in total) me and one other ( total budget in this case about 1600)

budget to cover accommodation and flights etc. looking to get value for money and far away from too much noise for parents but still a bit of social life for myself. also need advise on any peoples experiences and how much food and drink is..and any other hidden costs e.g. airport charges insurance etc. forms that need to be signed and how to get a passport organised and how long it would take to organise same.

Can take holiday ideally first week in August or any time between july and September.

I guess you could try the Canary Islands? Sorta the idiots guide to holidays there. Really does depend on your parents though I think.

Depends what kinda of weather you want really. I'd recommend Germany, Italy or France personally, lots of going out opportunities in the main parts of town, but very quiet neighbourhoods to find, and usually lots of things to do. Canaries or Spain you could get a package holiday cheaply, but found most places to be extremely loud and the food mediocre.

malta, ryanair fly there at a budget prices. Valetta is a quiet town but St julians next town over has enough bars and clubs to keep the twenty somethings happy, lots of great sightseeing to do on the island(s) as well

great weather a bonus and they use the euro

can u suggest a website for package holidays for malta. was thinking about a guided holiday tour to italy rome and sorrento for a week at 850each - is this a bit expensive or four adults on holiday for 2000e.

What about silicy - seen it on one of the holiday programs and it looked good with reasonable prices . what is the cost of food abroad or does it vary??

for package holidays try here http://www.panoramaholidays.ie/

sorrento is a good distance from rome so keep that in mind, the high speed trains do rome-naples in 90 minutes but it takes nearly 3 hrs for the much less expensive regional trains to do that route. Its another 75 minutes or thereabouts from naples to sorrento by slow train.

i love that area of italy (amalfi coast) and cannot recommend it highly enough

in terms of price of food, everywhere differs, i found parts of southern italy very expensive for food then other places very cheap, Sant'Agnello a few minutes walk from sorrento town centre is much cheaper than sorrento while the isle of capri is more expensive than sorrento.

www.thetraveldepartment.ie - good value, a wide variety of trips, usually 3 or 4* with half board ... my parents love them!

I would be careful sending parents to Rome in August, it's going to be incredibly hot! A lot of Rome closes down in August because of the heat ... it's supposed to be unbearable.

Edit: My parents actually did the Sorrento Coast one, and loved it!

I feel like Im always on about it but I suggest Gumbet or Bitez in Turkey...Bitez would suit and older couple...Gumbet would be fab if they brought the twenty somethings along..

Me and my siblings gave a €1000 voucher to my parents for their 25th wedding anniversary last year and used it to go to Egypt and they had a great time. Stayed in 5 star hotel etc. and did some tours.
