Hotbird/Astra 1 with Humax Foxsat HD Receiver

I'm just reading the 'Satellite Superstore' web Page and he says the following re the Humax HD receiver:

"Freesat receivers are not really suitable for any other satellite than 28E. They only have auto scanning on 28 degrees. That means every transponder would have to be scanned manually on every satellite. This could take a day to do for just one satellite.
Accessing new channels in the menus is not easy and requires a number of button pushes every time. "

This seems a fairly big disadvantage. Has anyone any direct experience tuning in the Humax to other satellites?

That's the whole point of Freesat. The UK broadcaster are unlikely to pump money into developing a system to provide EPG data and interactive service to German-speaking viewers watching content on Astra 1, for example.

It really is exclusively for Astra 2. The Sky digibox is not different in any way -- it, too, auto-scans the Astra 2/Eurobird and the EPG is updated accordingly. This is all using Sky's proprietary technology, however.

If you want to watch Astra 1 channels, you're best off with a dedicated FTA box or a decoder that supports some form of encryption.
