    ...coolest bass ever! :D

So, my new bass is finally home and wow does it rock. It was assembled by Derrick Nelson who did an awesome job at making everything fit together.

It's a joy to play, almost plays itself.
I didn't really know exactly what to expect from this combo, because I don't think anyone has done it before.

    Here's the bass....

    Specification:
      B. Hefner 60's spec alder "Jazz Bass" body finished in Nitrocellulose Sherwood Metallic Green.
Mighty Mite birdsye maple Jazz Bass neck.
Delano JMVC 4 FE Pickups (hum-cancelling)
      Audere JZ-3 Preamp
      Leo Quan Badass II bridge
      Bone nut
      Hipshot Ultralite tuners

I have to say, it's a winning combination. The weight is perfect, it balances extremely well too.

The preamp is very nice, it's great being able to adjust bass, mid and treble on the bass. I haven't really played it much, mostly just at the Derricks workshop. But I'm gonna go rock it in a few minutes.

I love the nylon tapes, I thought they'd be really muted sounding but far from it. They've got an awesome feel and interesting sound.

On another note, I also got a new compressor today. It's an Orange Squeeze clone with mods for bass made by Guttermouth Electronics.
    ****in' awesome!

    Me so happy! :)

Ooh it's fabulous, the colour is gorgeous. Nelson did my dad's bass and nearly 20 years later it's in top condition.

:D 4 basses and a guitar. 2 of the basses are active and two passive. One fretless, and I've also got one of each fretboard type. Ebony, Rosewood, Maple and Ebonal. :p

I'll have to do a family pic soon. :)

Niccce. I think it'd look bitchin' with a black pickguard though!

:D A few people have said that, and I do have one for it. But I won't put it on, I prefer it without tbh. :p

Very nice. Although the colour looks more kinda cyan, is it more green in person? Looks damned good though.

It's hard to photograph, it changes in different lights. Very cool colour in person :)

    For shame :p

How do you find the MM neck? I have oe of these myself, just entering the final phase of building.

Actually I was quite surprised by it. Very comfortable! It's got a very thin satin poly. Derrick said that the frets needed a polish and small bit of a level but that's to be expected, even Warmoth necks generally need that.

I've had the neck for a few years, just haven't used it. It was meant for a different project that went belly up. So, it's well settled. :)

My camera can't quite capture it, but the neck has a LOT of birdseye! One of the reasons why I left a logo off it, didn't want to spoil it.
