hi i want a user to be able to download files but not see the path i want to do something like here : http://www.ziddu.com/downloadfile.php?uid=bKqenJepbKualpSltqyZlJyiaLCWlpar8 (but without the code) how does one do this in php ? thank you

Try using fpassthru. Look at the example - open file, set http headers and call fpassthru().

You'll probably want to add logging.

Edit: The "User Contributed Notes" (a great feature of php.net) mentions issues with fpassthru, and some recommend fread/feof loops.
