Last night i went to put on a dvd for the young lad he wanted to watch the wiggles but fireman sam came on and played about 20 secs of the intro. Thinking i just put in the wrong disc i went to put the wiggles in but it was in and fireman sam was in its case.

My ps3 played the intro of the fireman sam dvd when it wasnt even in. Anyone else have that happen to them?

I think this can be explained as follows:

in one of the last Firmware upgrades the functionality to continue playing a dvd from the last position was brought in. this means if your watching a dvd and stop it and turn off the PS3 when you come back you will be able to play from the same point. So i'm assuming the PS3 must cache some of the video so it can remember where it was.

So, this means if the last DVD watched on the PS3 was Fireman Sam then there would have been some video in the cache. then you changed the DVD and hit play. the PS3 got confused and played back the contents of the cache.

Now i don't know if this is what happened or if this can even happen but it makes sense.

Yeah it must do i thought it just went by the playtime or sectors of each dvd and would remember a certain number of dvds recently played. I didnt think it would be able to play anything of the last dvd from its memory.
