Expect a repeat of "Summer" 2007 with the Jet Stream now firmly overhead feeding in storms of wind and rain. Met Eireann confirmed that the Jet Stream is following a very similar pattern to last "summer" which was the worst since 1985 but this "summer" may even top that!

I'm expecting it will be a little different, not necessarily better, the jet may be a little further north but stronger, and at least in July, this wet and gloomy regime from June could persist, although with one or two very warm days thrown in. There could be some very heavy storms and local rainfalls of two or three times the July average.

I have some optimism about August being better than last year, or average for that matter. Could see the jet lifting further in late July to allow a more anti-cyclonic pattern in August. Wouldn't book your holiday too early, let's say, because September could continue in that improved pattern.
