Hi, I slightly overpronate and was wondering what the best shoe for me would be.
Anyone have any good/bad stories about the above shoes?
    Thanks

Have you been to any of the technical running stores (Amphibian King in Bray, or the one in Parnell Street)? They should be able to advise correctly based on a gait analysis.

IrishFit does gait analysis as well if their location suits you better, though i think you have to pay. (AK is free, or at least was last summer).

I think the best thing is for you to get gait analysis done.

Are you wearing one of them running at the moment? Are you having any problems with them? If you're not don't change it's that simple.

I slightly overpronate and I changed from Kayano to Nimbus and started getting Achilles problems. I'm now jumping back to the Kayanos as I had no issues with them. Lesson learned - don't change what works for you

AK and runways are both free - and good.

I was having an awful lot of shin and calf issues. I had new Asics so didnt even consider that they may be the problem. Long sotry short, my physio gave me a document that gave me a breakdown of different gaits, under/over pronating, which you may be, and therefore what type of runner you should be wearing. So, from that I identified myself as an underpronator. All I did then was ring Buckley sports in cork city - a specialised running shop and they told me what I should be wearing (Nike Air Pegasus or Asics 1130). I bought the Nike and havent looked back since.

Personally, I think the key is not wearing particularly one brand over another, but wearing the v.specific shoe design that suits your gait. The 3 main categories are cushioning, stability and motion control and these will be catered for quite differently.

I have attached the document below if of interest.

    Thanks alot for the replys.
I haven't been running in either yet. Have been running in the asics 1120's, and have a bit of a shin problem. But maybe down to the fact the shoes have at least 500 miles in them.
I did get a gait test done in the states and was told I slightly overpronate. That makes me go towards the Kayano's, but was told the nimbus was the latest and greatest.
Marie C. Thanks for your reply. The doc is really interesting. Have just printed it to read in bed :o
    Thanks again.

nimbus are no better than kayanos, kayanos are no better than nimbus imo. The kayanos will suit you better, they are designed for your gait and have similar levels of cushioning as the nimbus. Nimbus are certainly not latest and greatest, aiscs revamp them all every couple of years.
