What's the quickest way to get a Dual Shock 3 in Dublin

As my sixaxis broke and there's not much point getting another one, I was wondering if anyone knew the quickest way to get a Dualshock pad?

I know I could go the ebay route but I'm moving house in a few weeks and I don't trust something to get here from Hong Kong in time so I'd ideally like to find an Irish or at worst UK seller if anyone had any ideas, cheers.

I knew you could get them from videogamesplus.ca, but I've bought stuff from there before that took a few weeks to arrive so I'm happy to pay a couple of quid extra to get it from an Irish company.

Cd wow sell them for 52.99 they are a decent company to order from though a little expensive sometimes, i got a voucher for them so im only paying 40 for mine and delivery is free usually in 4 working days ;)

Its 65Canadian Dollars, which works out at €41 euro delivered.

I ordered one last week on monday, and it arrived by following Tues.

No price on it so no worry with customs!

But Gamesnash would be well worth a shout, i would have ordered from them if I had of known! DS3 is brilliant with MGS4... was quite missing the vibrartion in games, adds to the tention/atmosphere!

Im hoping you guys can become the Irish equivalent of Play at some stage, although your prices, whil;st still better then High Street, aren't quite there yet.

  • Company Representative Posts: 2,957 ✭✭✭Gamesnash.ie: Pat

    We certainly hope so too.

The more customers that use us the better buying power we have with the suppliers / publishers which in turn means we can keep lowering the prices.

We try our abosulte best to match and indeed beat the likes of play.com where it is possible. In the products that we are a couple of euro dearer on we are confident our service level and speed of delivery are worth it to the customer. :)

Is there any white one's in stock...tempted by it,although it might look a bit stupid with the black PS3!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

doesn't look anymore stupider than it being more expensive than the black based solely on its colour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,174 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

Yeah noticed that as well, prob wait another month, the sis is going to America so just get her to pick one up!

They are costing us more to get them in - the US versions of the Dualshock 3 are cheaper than the Asian ones. Different price points from Sony at the start which filters down through the wholesalers etc. The white ones we have in stock are sourced from Asia hence the difference.

wasn't a direct dig at yourselves, i know shops have to make a profit, if the shop are charged more to get them in then they have too as well.

it was more of a dig towards sony pricing it more due to it's colour and nothing else.

I heard DS3's are out in Europe on Friday but they're only in black and I really wanted a white one.

I see gamenash have them though. I dont care about the price tbh, just want the white one. Are gamenash reliable enough? Since they're based in Ireland I'm guessing they deliver pretty sharpish?

edit: never mind, just saw they had an express post option that only takes 1 day for €11. I went for that since I'm on holiday all next week and need to get it this week/weekend :P If they're reliable I'll definatly order again. They had some nice bargains elsewhere and I like the fact that they're based in Ireland.

We're very sensitive here ;) - For what it's worth the cost price to us for a black Asian version dualshock is the same as a white Asian dualshock. It's just the fact that we can't get a US version in white which means the extra costs.

As far as we know Sony's price is the same for the Black / White but its the regions that the cost differs.

just so everyone knows i was in smyths yesterday and i was told that the dualshock 3 will be out friday (tomorrow) no prce has been given as of yet however, if its crazy money-(which lets be honest it will be) i guess gamesnash will have another customer in myself! actually a question for yourself, now that it will be released in europe that means you should have more controllers and therefor more competitive prices am i right?! (economics student in me coming out lol)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,727 ✭✭✭✭noodler

The actual cost prices to retailers have not been confirmed but we understand that it will be priced dearer than the US versions. We will carry both the European and US versions on our site but it is fairly safe to assume that the European versions will be dearer not cheaper I'm afraid.

As it stands it is cheaper for us to import the US dualshock than it is to purchase the standardsix axis controller through European channels.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,727 ✭✭✭✭noodler

    They are identical though?

Well, you should just buy a helluva lot less of the european model-hopefully others will buy from the likes of you, why do we get everything last and at the worst prices? Bad time to say this coming into a recession but people need to discover the internet over here. Retailers on the high street are getting away with absolute murder.

  • Company Representative Posts: 2,957 ✭✭✭Gamesnash.ie: Pat

Yep - other than the packaging they are the same unit.

It is no secret that games are cheaper outside of Europe - there are various reasons / excuses offered for this that we could not in fairness comment on. At the end of the day we are European based and in order to serve the Irish / European community we must deal within the European market and its price structure. Don't bite the hand that feeds you ;) We will though occasionaly import products like the Dualshock controllers and the likes of DS consoles that are not available over here.

As far as we are concerned there is no bad time to say discover the internet and its cost savings :)

Fair enough, wasn't a jab at you or anything. Play are selling them for 56 euro. Disappointing price too. There you go, something you are beating them on!

I bought a white DS3 from gamesnash.ie yesterday, very happy with the price and would prefer to support an Irish retailer.

Can anyone tell me what the rumble takes away from the battery time of a DS3?

How much game time will you get before you gotta plug in the USB?

I got mine Friday morning, charged it straight away. Used it a good bit Friday (few hours), used it yesterday morning and afternoon and been using it for the last hour or two this morning. Still on 3 bars battery. I'd say its about the same as the Sixaxis

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,727 ✭✭✭✭noodler

    Thats quite a technical achievement.

been using it all morning/afternoon, still at 3 bars battery. My sixaxis was obviously on its last legs. had it since launch and would have to charge it about every 2 days, maybe 3
