That was me last year, repeated my exams and got into second year. You have to sit every exam you failed which is a pain because I got 36% in one and didnt what to sit that exam again.

Get grinds they bring you grades way up like I went from like 5% to 60% in one module.

Now you will have to pay €6,000 or so to repeat 1st year but if you pass 1st year but move course you might not have to pay but im not sure on that because my mate who was gonna do that ended up failing the repeats and never came back.

    Computer Sci as in CSSE?

Well it doesnt really matter because CSSE is the same an general Science now but its no easy course.

What engineering course are you doing?

Check out music tech before you do it, if you think it's all about sound engineering it's not.
About failing the exam don't worry, everybody has done it. Give it a try repeating first in my opinion, or else go to the day where you can speak to the department head. Otherwise call into the academic advisory office, they are quite helpful to say the least

What you can do is repeat externally, meaning that:

    a) no registration fee, or a reduced reg fee i can't remember which
    b) you only have to pay for the modules you missed.

either way, Cool cM is right, defo call into the very sound people at the Academic Advisory Office. They're in the Arts block. go in the entrance opposite JH and go right, then take the second right, by the vending machines.

The requirements would be the same for the leaving certificate students unless the department allow you in without certain requirements. You would need to talk to the relevant department.

Give this man an email, he runs the music tech course and is quite sound.

cheers lads, i failed maths in my LC but got in through the nuim engineering backdoor exam so the CAO is not a method of transfer i can use... im willing to pay to move

You'll have to pay to move anyway. Because any transfer would involve going back to first year and hence you'd have to pay for the whole year. If you failed maths in the LC you wouldn't have the basic matriculation requirements for any of the other courses I'd say. I think you're stuck. Go talk to the admissions office on 7083822. They can advise you. Or you could study for your repeats. Either or
