upset stomach and digestive problems

    hi there
i suffered a chest injury , specifically my ribs last october and while my ribs are no longer sore , i have pains in my abdomen all the time , my belly is also quite bloated yet i am not a big eater and have never had a weight problem , another unusual thing is i have constant gas , i have severe flatulence and it sounds like someone is letting of a baloon in my belly all the time with trapped wind being released noises occurring on a regular basis

i asked my doctor about this and he told me that because i was on a lot of codeine based pain killers for a long time ( 6 to 8 tylex a day for nearly 6 months ) and even though i have been off painkillers since the end of april , my digestive system got used to the tablets and is reacting in this way because im not taking any now and that it would take time to rid myself of the afterafects of such mediciation

to be honest , im sceptical about his views , surely this constant gas would not still be there 2 months after having stopped taking meds , im begining to wonder if there was permanent damage done to my stomach
does 6 to 8 tylex a day for 5 mths sound excessive so much so as to cause damage

seek a 2nd opinion from another gp or gastro consultant.

If you're not happy with a medical opinion you should seek advice from another doctor. it's not safe to seek that opinion from an internet forum.
