OK, I know it's a long shot, that anyone older than me would be on this site...lol...but boards.ie has never let me down before..

I remember this television advert, sometime between 1972 and 1974, I reckon.

A girl on a bike, comes to a puddle in the road, but rather than avoid it, she goes hell for leather into the puddle, and has a whale of a time.

Husband thinks it was an advert for Cadbury's Flake. That would make sense, given the fact that the Flake ads were 'filthy-dirty', and suggestive in all sorts of ways that we innocent Irish children weren't aware of.

However, I think it might have been for Crunchie.

I remember the little tune that went 'Bite into a golden crunchie, and give a little smile. Life is full of golden moments that make each day worthwhile'.

But I might have got the tune and the images mixed up in my mind.

The situation, traumatic as it is, is even further complicated by the fact that Crunchie was originally 'Fry's Crunchie', and was later welcomed into the Cadbury fold.

Well, back in the early 70's, I decided to copy the girl on the bike, and on Lynn Road, Mullingar, I cycled into a puddle, in a carefree manner. Sadly, the puddle contained an empty coke can, which I hit, and I went head over heels and ended up in a muddle in the puddle.:o

Sorry to take this off topic but you were taken out by an empty coke can

yes, 'tis true. I saw the can, and thought it'd present no problem.

    But I came a cropper.

That was around 35 years ago.

I hope I'm not muddying that puddle but wasn't that ad for Frys chocolate cream bar?
