NTL radio channels

The other night i was browsing the fm radio on my sony ericsson phone and noticed good reception on 97.15, 96.2 and the other frequencies that NTL use for their cable radio or what it is called.

However, i could not get a signal on those frequencies on my nokia phone.

    Why is this?

How does this NTL radio service work anyway? Do I have to sign up to a separate radio service to get those channels on the subscription? in the splitter close to my tv, it says radio and tv above the inlets for the RF cables. So theoretically, can I plug the other cable into a radio set if it has an RF connector?

FM Radio is free with NTL. Connect a cable between the point on the wall and your radio and bang, reception.

Yes I am aware of this but how come the SE phone picked up the signal but not the Nokia? Does it have something to do with RDS being available on SE but not on nokia? Farfetched a believe, since NTL radio channels are not even using RDS?
