Shipping - UPS Worldwide Express $40.50
    Sales Tax 0%
(Collecting sales tax for NY & NJ) $0.00

Yeah, chances are you will have to pay duty on that - Customs are cracking down on packages atm.

I always take customs into account when buying online - if I don't get charged I see that as a lucky break - I don't expect it though as I have been caught before.

They'll charge around 21% I think it is on the total of the goods - AND they take the shipping costs into account too which I think is ridiculous..

Bottom line - do your math and if you can afford the customs if you do get caught go for it, however if you couldn't afford to pay another 21% plus admin fees on your above total, you might want to think twice about it..

Almost certainly you will. $330 is about €210, and you'll have customs on that first. That varies and I've actually never seen any consistency in it. Budget for about 10% would be a good guess. Then Vat as 21% on that and add the processing fee of €15 and you're looking at about €85.

oh ok thanks for the help guys. Think it will still probably turn out cheaper with the added fees than if I ordered from Europe.

    cheers!

I've had a change of mind, think I'm going to go for a a different lens. The price comes to eur98 including deliver. Will this still have an effect on evading tax?

    There's no evading, only avoiding.

Anything over €22 (or €45 for gifts) is liable for duty/tax. Coming through the courier you'll still be caught for it. On €100, it'll probably about €50 all in.

To be honest I've gotten charged tax a fair bit this year. A package worth €800 was charged €179 VAT & Customs, €450 package was charged €73, €300 package was charged €50 and a €200 was cahrged €43. All items were still significantly cheaper than buying here or in Europe.

Although I'm not an expert you'll be charged roughy 25% the value of the item (this includes Duty + VAT + €5 An Post handling fees if the item is originally shipped by USPS)
