Worst TV service ever. Licensed by OfCom in England. I think they own some of those quiz lines etc. This site is just as bad as the TV service.

It's a rubbish channel that shows highlight of some of the rubbish channels on sky. SumoTV and psychics live and that kind of rubbish. No one understands why UPC are carrying it and a few us were insulted that UPC can launch that rubbish and claim it's a channel. Did I mention it's rubbish?

Is there any authority that you can complain to regarding the content of some of the channels on UPC/NTL ?

The content of BUZZ-TV leaves a lot to be desired and its placing amongst the 'entertainment' section is highly questionable....

BUZZ TV is regulated by OfCom in England.

You can complain directly to UPC or OfCom.

Surely the Irish distribution isn't though!?

Maybe you could complain to BCI on the basis that a BCI-licenced cable operator is carrying such trash.

But somehow i don't think that'll work. I'd say the most effective thing would be to write to UPC. OffCom won't do anything. I don't know if the fact that we're in Ireland matters (I think they'd take the complaint anyway) but this kind of bull is obviously what their licence is for so I doubt there's anything they could do.

I wish TV3 would buy THEM instead of C6. This is probably the only channel TV3 could buy that would improve as a result!

The BCI don't issue cable licences or have anything to do with the technical end of cable TV carriage. ComReg do, but outside of the 1974 towns (ie, in UPC areas) they don't really have control over what is carried beyond the "must carries".

There isn't really a minimum quality threshold for any channel on British TV today, other then ITV companies, Channel 4, and (don't all laugh) Five.

Minimum threshold must be damned low then.

    Mike.

Is Channel 6 not a must carry? AFAIK it is, and it is licenced by the BCI.

Bubble Hits and Buss TV are both OfCom licences.

Thinking about TV3 buying Channel 6, this is their new schedule IMO

    6:00 - 6:30 The Best of 3 Daytime
    6:30 - 7:00 Catch up Xpose
    7:00 - 10:00 current schedule
    10:00 - 10:30 Cori St/Emmer
    10:30 - 11:00 CorI St/Emmer
    11:00 - 11:30 Cori St/Emmer
    11:30 - 12:00 Catch up Nightly News
    12:00 - 02:00 Nightshift (Renamed 3 Daytime)

BCI* should ask UPC to move DCTV to 122 and BTV to 802. IMO. :)

*AFAIK the BCI has no power to tell UPC what to do, but they should at least ask.

Looking at BCI documents, apparently they do have a say in the EPG.

The 4 Irish channels and BBC1/2,ITV & Ch.4 must have primary positioning on any Irish EPG.....

Which gives raise to questions about the 4 UK channels being moved down to 108-111 with Setanta/Ch.6/City taking the prominant spots....

Not to mention the mess BBC2 is on the Southside due to RTE's digital transmissions...

Why is RTE's Digital Transmissions effecting BBC2 on Cable?
The 4 Irish channels and BBC1/2,ITV & Ch.4 must have primary positioning on any Irish EPG.....

I am sure that the 4 irish channel could become 5 or 6. There are 5 main terresterial channels in the UK after all.

Both On 224mhz........if you ring NTL/UPC they also blame RTE!! you would think they would allocate BBC2 a different frequency..

    I haven't noticed any problems with BBC2.

It still doesn't seem to make sence that BBC2 on cable (analogue/digital) should be affected by RTE's digital transmissions terrestrially. Should it????

    Are you on MMDS?

BBC2 on the Southside - anywhere in line of site of 3 Rock - is wiped out or has interferance.

As I said ring NTL/UPC and complain about BBC2 interferance and they will blame RTE !!

Why 224mhz - I assume its because it was the original pre 92 TX frequency for RTE (Channel J?) so was easy to put back into action

I was in Drumcondra and BBC2 was crap there as well. I think it's just down to poor quality cabling or connections allowing the DAB signal to get into the cable.

The DAB signal is actually on 227.36 MHz but it is close enough to screw up BBC2 as it's within the area of the vision signal.

The commercial mux is 223.9 AFAIK

I don't know how accurate wiki is on this one. They have a link to 4Talent which suggests that BuzzTV is starting up soon.

    http://www.channel4.com/4talent/event.jsp?id=15521

Perhaps it is true but what are Channel 4 thinking????!!!!????

Wonder if it will be part of Boxers package or the FTA package.

I think some people (including myself) where saying how much of a waste of space +1 channels are, I think we could all agree that Buzz TV is much worse of a waste of space.

Note how it is a link to a Northren Ireland Headed page on the channel four site. I don't think C4 Own this channel. TBH.

    http://www.channel4.com/4talent/ireland/tv/

The site contains links to local community TV services in Belfast and Derry.

Maybe is a generation gap problem on my part but Wilson is deluded if he thinks Youtube-level "programming" is the future of tv. Or even a future of TV. Shoddy standards and incoherent random nonsense palls quickly even if you are 15 I imagine,

I think it is more about the money they make from the phone ins then quality TV TBH.

Anyway he is looking for 2 new channels from OfCom. He wants them to be more Irish, I wonder why he does go to the BCI for a licence????

Why do people phone these so called Psychics, phone "sex" girls, brain dead fake quizzes etc?

You can hardly argue that more regulation is needed as a six year old with a brain can figure these are a rip of waste of time. Or are we getting stupider and need protected from this stuff.

I remember when I only had 4 channels on TV and about 8 on Radio and their was actual decent content!

If they really were Psychics, they'd know who was going to call & when

Springsteen & Floyd were so right about TV

I remember hearing or reading ads for these psychic phonelines, the ad was something along the lines of
"no psychic ability or experience needed, training will be given, good speaking voice & phone manner essential"
    Blatant snakes!

Because most of them are desperate losers who think the "psychis" offer a glimmer of hope or think these "single girls" may actually love them. They're services that prey on the emotionally vulnerable.

    http://www.psychicrecruitment.com/

    I love their disclaimer

"Due to unprededented interest in our recruitment service, and a high level of applicant unreliability, we have been forced to introduce an administration charge of £9.99 for all applications. This charge is refundable if the application is successful, and the Reader performs their first paid reading for a client."

"We believe serious applicants confident in their ability will be happy to pay the fee, in the knowledge that the fee will be refunded once they have sucessfully joined us. "

Surely they should know all of this.
