He's coming to the Ed Burke on July 10. Email dfmbookings@tcd.ie if you want free tickets, max 2 per person.

Thank you for your email regarding the upcoming Robert Redford public interview. We have had an overwhelming response and have now allocated all tickets. Unfortunately we have no tickets remaining for your request.

Sent a reply 2 hours and 25 mins after receiving the original email.

Yeah I didn't get them either even though I wrote back really quickly. There's a thread about it in Celeb & Showbiz and a few people there were saying that they didn't get them either. Guess it shows that there really must have been a high demand - but it's strange that no-one has posted to say that they got tickets...

Maybe they were filtering the replies in some way.

I got 2 tickets, when I collected them yesterday I was chatting to the girl at the box office and she said all the tickets were sold out within 4-5 minutes of the email going out!

Can I have one? I can repay your kindness with sexual favours and/or sweets.

Was it just the free tickets that disappeared that fast, or are there no tickets for sale left either, does anyone know?

If there is anyone who has a spare ticket I would be so grateful, it's not for me... I can live.. it's for my sister who has only 2 screen idols... Marilyn Monroe and Robert Redford.. not much i can do about the former.. but please, some kind soul... this would be the gift of a lifetime. Thanks.

Whats the big fuss about Redford anyway?

hmm... I didn't think it was the best interview ever. what did other people think, if anyone got to go? Redford himself was great, Dwyer definitely wasn't.

Also, there were hardly any students there. I'd love to know exactly how many student tickets were allocated, as my reckoning is there were 50 student age people there MAX, which is a bit ridiculous. The average was 40 or so...

It was still worth going along to though, and all credit to the drama department

Bingo. Dwyer sat there catching flies in his slack jaw between reading questions off a sheet. The best questions came from the audience members - who knew Redford tried to make a movie about Michael Collins, great bit of info!

I know the press presence was inevitable, but Redford seemed visibly uncomfortable for the first five minutes while the camera's were flashing. He relaxed considerably when they left and seemed to get into the swing of things talking about Pollack and Newman. Dwyer didn't pick up on any of that though and couldn't take the lead. He seemed more concerned with flexing his intellectual muscle of encyclopedic knowledge about Redford's movies than really getting him to open up more about his life as an actor and activist (wtf was his game with the name dropping re: Out of Africa!?!).

As in Michael Dwyer of The Irish Times?

I wonder if students were the last people to be emailed about it.

    The very one.

My email about the tickets was sent on 26th June at about 2.30pm, it seems to be have sent to all academic and admin staff. Don't know when the students were informed I'm afraid.

Students were emailed same time as staff etc.

Dwyer was pretty useless, Tubridy did a much better job with Pacino last year.
