    I love these, the high standard that Toth set on even hack work like a Johnny Quest comic is amazing. The criticisms he made are hard to disagree with, though like ztoical said, the harsh tone for which Toth was notorious for is unnerving.

    Anyone read the the Darwyn Cooke homage comic "the Toth"?

    Just finished reading that and it's the sort of thing that, really, I think comics as a field would benefit of having more of. Yes, the tone of it is harsh and unremitting but as someone else pointed out on the original thread, the harshness was never about Rude's technical skills, it was all about the thought (or lack of) that guided the artistic process.

    That idea of treating any comics work as a chance to learn about the subject matter and thus educate the reader about the specifics of it is wonderful. I'd hate to be on the pointy end of a critique that ruthless, though...
