Snoring.....

.... mine has gotten so bad lately I wake myself up. I don't just snore - I squeak, talk, whimper, groan, blow raspberries, click, glug, snort, cry and whistle in my sleep.

Any ideas how I can get this situation under control before I get banned from the neighborhood?

LOL. they also make you go faster asleep afaik.

[edit] I thought you were taking the piss a-la go faster stripes [/edit]

on topic: aparently it can vary depending on what way you sleep (on your side / back / front) maybe try changing how you sleep (not easy, I know)

None of those stupid things work! My husband ended up having his palate lasered ~ he was louder than a road drill!!

The most common reason for snoring like that to start out of the blue is weight gain ~ have you gained weight lately??

My hubbie is normal weight for his height and has snored since he was a child ~ turned out it was a floppy palate covering his airway (nothing to do with the pillow I was holding m'lud :D)

No seriously you could have sleep apnoea my Dad has it and you stop breathing during the night and make random noises. He has a machine now that helps him sleep.
Do you find yourself tired during the day?Like falling asleep in work or at home?

This is a serious enough condition and if you are waking yourself up at night, possibly from stopped breathing you should definitely go to the doctor.

I tried the nasal strips and couldn't tolerate them..... they opened my nose too much - it felt like a wind tunnel running through my brain.
    Thanks anyway.

Did the laser thing work for your husband?

Yes I find I get tired very easily during the day.Somebody else has mentioned sleep apnoea. I'm almost certain I have it.

I will certainly make another appointment after reading some of the comments on here. The doctor didn't seem very interested last time.

I work within a sleep lab and you sound like you have apnea. esp if you are waking yourself up (this means you've stopped breathing and are struggling for breath!) anyways, go to your doc, get him/her to check it out and refer you to a clinic.

Otherwise, just take others advice. PILLOW.

if you really are serious about this, and are really gong to make an appointment with your GP, try to compose a list of occasions the whole snoring thing has gotten bad. and if you've ever fallen asleep behind the wheel, or in strange/unusual places and circumstances.
