Upgrade laptop to SSD

Hi, I am considering upgrading my laptop to an SSD drive, as costs seem to be coming down a good bit. I currently have a 40 gig HDD as is, and space is not a problem as im running XP etc...

I have an IBM T43 laptop, would the below drive work in my laptop, or would the bios prevent me from using it, is there a way of switching off this bios function as I've tried to fit another 2.5 ide drive to this laptop (from a compaq) and it refused to boot.

To be honest, unless its a fairly high end laptop(which a t43 is not) i wouldn't waste the money. But if its something you really want to do then yes it will work. just make sure its a 2.5" hdd with an ide connector.

I suppose the T43 is not a high spec laptop, but would an SSD not speed up the laptop enormously, which would be my reason for doing this.

Noted that nforce thanks, might not upgrade then, would like to see the performance gain though.
