Unfortunately www.rli.ie wont have all the info you need. Its one of the worst run websites i've ever seen, absolute muck! You'd think coming up in a World Cup year that the RLI would AT LEAST get the website right.

If they (RLI) want this game to be taken seriously this would be the perfect year to do it, the Irish Team are pretty strong and could cause an upset or two if things go well, there will be home-grown players in the squad so the Irish supporter wont think that its all plastic paddys and with Terry O'Conner and Barrie McDermott Sky pundits they have a great opportunity to promote the game here. In all fairness to them they have slots on Boots N All every so often and try and increase awareness as much as they can, the same cant be said about the RLI.

They are probably the worst run association in the country. Simple things like the website not being kept up to date and matches being cancelled with no real reasons given smacks of unprofessionalism. Being an amateur association doesnt mean you cant act professional.

Anyway, Wicked Chicken, back to your original question. The Elite league is actually very competive this year with Treaty, North Dublin Eagles, Dublin Exiles and Carlow Crusaders all in the hunt for the title. Each team has taken points off each other. At the weekend Carlow had a good win over a depleted Eagles side, i think the end result was 39-18. Unfort Phil Purdue was stretched off with a suspected broken leg and he will be a big loss to the eagles and to Ireland A for the rest of the season. The Eagles seconds team beat Carlow's seconds in a friendly game 38-30. Good game considering the mistakes by both sides but good to see both getting 2 teams out on the day.

The Exiles beat Tullamore over the weekend convincingly 70-20. Heard that there was a bit of a punch-up but the game was played in a good enough spirit! Portadown and Treaty was called off as Portadown couldnt field.

I think that leaves Treaty and Carlow in the top two positions.

The seconds competition is pretty much non-exsistent at this stage with teams unable to field some weeks and fielding others. A pity really as its a great game to play during the summer, none of the rucking and line-outs and all of the good stuff!

I know a few of the posters here play so would you be interested in putting up results and scorers etc every week as the RLI website is poor and no one ever knows whats going on.

Its bizarre, a phantom rugby match...though its on the RLI site fixture list there's no result, checked all the major RL sites including the european RL site, no mention of it whatsoever...

    From rli.ie

"This coming weekend is an international weekend and the domestic competition takes a deserved break. However, the form players take to the road to play against Wales A in the European Amateur Nations.

The match takes place on Sunday 6th July in Porthcawl RFC. Wales defeated Scotland 62-20 in their first game and will prove tough opposition for the Irish. However, the two games against France have shown that Ireland are also in form and will be looking to win the competition outright after coming second last year."

Thats the most i could find out about the game

I think the result was something like 48-10 to Ireland A. The French were pretty poor I heard so it wont reflect on the Wales game which will be tough for a depleted Wolfhounds this time around.

Drives me mad when simple things like a match report or a few results cant be put up. A lot of people would rely on the website to try and get up to speed with whats happening but for a lot of the time there's never anything on it.

I agree. If it was updated regularly then it would be used as a portal and could generate more interest in the competition. Used as it is, it just makes the RLI look like incompetent buffoons.

Still, I'm sure the World Cup results will be up to date, after all, the international matches the only ones that matter...
