Just wondering if anyone has been to Hamburg here?
Basically going there on a stag soon with about 25 or so other lads. We're flying with Aer Lingus into Hamburg. Was just wondering what the best way to get from the airport in would be and perhaps more importantly what the nightlife is like? Any good spots worth checking out?

    I've been :D

There is no train service to the airport so you'll need to take a bus or a taxi. There is a bus service that will drop you off at the main bus station in the center of town or you can get a bus from the airport to nearest u-bahn station (Ohlsdorf) and take the train from there to wherever you are staying.

The main going out area is the Reeperbahn. The s-bahn will drop you off in the middle of it or if you are on the u-bahn then get off at St-Pauli and walk down. There are some good bars around Hans-Albert Platz. If you are walking down from St. Pauli then cross over the street and take the first left after Burger King and ignore the street girls, they can be very annoying and persistant. My favorite bar up there is Academy. Up from there a little further is the famous Herbert strasse which is closed off to women and has the red light windows.

There are a lot of strip bars along the Reeperbahn but most of them are rubbish and a rip off. The most famous one is the Dollhouse on Große Freiheit. It's a good place, not sleazy would have the 50/50 men/women in there. You buy Dollhouse dollars, sit at a table, pick the girl you want to dance and she'll give a table dance and you can stick the dollars where ever you want. My favourite strip bar would be Arizona (I think that's what is's called). You pay to get in, this includes a free ride on their mechanical bull, good laugh after loads of beer and there are some very nice women dancing. Same deal here as with the Dollhouse, you can buy dollars and stick them on the dancers!

If you are looking for a quieter evening then Schanze is a good spot with some nice bars. Take the u-bahn or s-bahn to Sternschanze!
