New Bad Beat Idea, What you Think?

I might be getting involved in a new Casino which is due to open very soon and was looking at a few different ideas.

One which i seen when i was in Vegas last month was a Bad Beat with a difference.

Basically any time you get it all in when holding Ace's and lose you get to spin the wheel (wheel of fortune) and your a guaranteed winner.

The win's are obviously alot smaller than winning the current bad beat but it will be won on a more regular basis, thus keeping players in the game.

    Your Thoughts.....

This is brilliant for the game too. Nobody ever folding AA FTW! Or does it have to go in preflop?

My own personal greed makes me think that this is a bad idea.
The reason being I don't tilt.
On the other hand, if a player I am playing against gets his aces busted and then gets a free spin of the wheel, it may prevent him from tilting off some money due to his bad beat.

So its -ev for a non tilter and very possibly ++ev for those who do tilt.

If the game was very deep, the last thing youd want to do would be spin a wheel for a sh1tty prize.

I played this on limit tables in the Excalibur in Vegas.Seems to work out well for the house.Anyone with AA pumps 'em as hard as they can.On the $1-$2 tables everybody calls everything anyway so the wheel generates more rake for the house.

The guy with Aces is praying they get cracked. All for the chance to win an average of 50 bucks on the wheel,I'd say.

    AA stands up,bettor is happy.

AA cracked, guys gets made a fuss of and a consolation prize.Everybody happy.

P.s. the wheel is second only to the "dealertainers" in the Imperial Palace, celeb lookalike dealers that get up and sing a song in the middle of a Blackjack hand.Only in Vegas.

Party poker run something like this every once in a while. If your AA loses at showdown then you get $5 or $10 (depending on the stakes of the game). I haven't won one yet, ffs I hate running so good .

but aces get cracked like 4/5 times a night?? - not much of a bad beat imo

maybe lower the qualifying hand for the jackpot to get a more regular winner?

If you are going to have a Wheel of Fortune, then you must have a really hot chick in a skimpy little number to stand beside the wheel and wave her hand at it every so often, just like they do on the TV program ;)

Seriously though, I think that this may appeal to the poker player who has just stumbled into the casino from the pub after downing 9 pints, 7 jameson and cokes, 5 shots of sambucca and a couple of jager bomb chasers. However, for your semi serious poker player, I think that this would be a bit too gimicky. I know if I get my Aces cracked, that last thing I want to do is get up from the table and have to spin a wheel.

Best of luck with the new casino if it goes ahead!

Is this allin preflop or not?

If there was an online version of this, I'd have a right arm like ****ing Arnold Schwarzenegger from the amount of times I'd have to spin the ****ing wheel.

I know who will really appreciate this one.

No doubt about it, our resident bad beat magnet.

It's a very silly idea young man, a very silly idea indeed. Why not be creative and stop with these silly I mean very silly ideas and create one of your own ideas one that is not so very very silly. Everyone knows that when someone gets a bad beat all they want to do is TELL SOMEONE EVERY DETAIL ABOUT IT (I know I do) and not spin some wheel to see if they can get a tacky t-shirt with green joker poker on it or else one of those emblems to stick above yer left diddy that indicates you lose online just as you do live. .......Just give the AA guy some sympathy, IT'S ALL WE WANT , REALLY. .........(must be read in a John Cleese voice)

Is it everytime AA loses, or do you have to be ahead.

Say somebody gets it in with red aces on a 4 spade board, drawing dead for the river,
    do they spin?

I would sit there steaming if I were paying €1 every pot so some retard who can't lay down aces when its beaten can win a nice sum that comes out of our pockets. What and how many prizes were on the wheel and what was the distribution? I assume it has to be fairly poor for it to work on a small scale like in Ireland with 2 only tables running.

Ok, so looking like a bad idea. Every now again i have a brain fart.

I spotted this too JP while I was in Vegas last year. It was in the Excallibur. In fairness, the punters loved it and it did take away some of the pain of losing a big pot with AA.
But most of the punters were holiday makers. I dont think its for the serious player.

first of all. good luck with the casino if you do get involved, will have to come visit sometime..

secondly, please dont be disheartened in any way by the negative responses in this thread. while i too disagree with this idea it is one of your qualities imo. you always seem to have a new idea for something a bit different or innovative. its part of your charm...a live double shoot out tournie for example, heads up comp etc..dont think any other poker operators would bother with these but you are always well supported. keep bringing out the new ideas i reckon, keeps it fresh and you never know, your next one could be a complete gem!! but you'll never know if you stop altogether

    just my 2c,

Any idea that attracts fish will be a success JP. Your input as a poker promoter should be to attract fish and not to worry about structures or anything else. Get the fish in and you'll be a success.

Edit: As a player who likes to think of himself as +EV in live games it sounds like an unnecessary additional rake to me BUT if it attracted fish I'd be there. End of story.

If you do get this wheel idea going please call it the Macspower Wheel. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I think this is a bad idea, but like mormank I applaud your invention. Keep it up, so many of the new ideas I've heard over the last year or 2 have been from you so I hope it continues. All it takes is one idea after all.

Could be a good idea... Perhaps dont have the 'everybody wins a prize' thing, this means that most prizes will be rubbish. Maybe have a wheel with 50 possible prizes, and have maybe every 2nd one blank? So you would only need 25 prizes. Means that you wouldnt have to give something away every time (although this would be another 'bad beat' for the person who won the spin!!)

Have one top prize (€1k maybe?), some smaller cash prizes, some tournament entry fees and some small non-cash prizes (chip sets etc)

Interesting, but i think the every 2nd one blank could send someone over the edge....

    I was thinking something along the lines of the top prize €1k , 2 x €500, 4 x €250, 8 x €100 ect

you will be open to all kinds of incidents JP......it's better to abandon the idea....

Ladies and gentlemen that guy over there kicking the chair has just lost with AA preflop, and he wins a spin of our badbeat wheel (when he calms down and stops chewing the curtains) ) .There are many prizes of 50 euro worth of JP poker chips for use in our cash game, and a top prize of 500 euro in JP chips.
There are however several duck eggs, where you win nothing.

I would have gone back in to get the brolly but I left the fkin key in my lucky trousers...FFS me arse. .

Well Joe, how about that spin, remember a 500 euro 1st prize.

500? Fk it I'll give it a go...............FK FK FK, ME HEAD...bastd of a thing, I'll need fkin stitches now..........what did it land on anyway.
