Seeing as they've just announced a short Irish tour in August, what are people's opinions on Maximo Park. Gotta say i think their debut album is one of the best in the last 5 or 6 years, the second one is solid without really progressing as much. Still, can't wait to catch them live, pity in it's in the Roisin Dubh.

I adore their first album, really underated. By the time the second album had come out I had kind of moved on and forgotten about them but I'd recommend the first album to anybody. The singles from it are all great and there are a couple of really good album tracks

Yeah wasn't a big fan at first but the album definitely grew on me. Love 'Going Missing' especially.

Fantastic first album, Going Missing and Apply Some Pressure my favourite. Pop music (in my opinion) at it's best.

No point repeating 'fantastic debut' is there? Haven't heard the second album apart from the singles, which didn't blow me away but were pretty decent.

Girls Who Play Guitar, the first song on the second album is one of the best songs of the last year or so, imo.

The second album, Our Earthly Pleasures, is pretty decent, just not a huge leap forward from A Certain Trigger. Funnily enough, most of the serious musicians I know rate it as a better album, but maybe the subtleties are lost on me.

I remember hearing that single, I wasn't that impressed. I do like Books from Boxes.

No gig in Limerick this time round though, have to go to the Roisin Dubh in Galway to see them. I know I mentioned it earlier, but it has to be one of the worse "semi-famous" live venues in Ireland.

Bought the first album about 2 years ago and loved it - went out and got the second the day it came out and I must say I think it's a better all-round album. Full of meaning and busy melodic parts for all members, not to mention some cracking tunes - not a bad one on there, but the standout for me would be "Nosebleed", some of the best lyrics I've ever heard (that goes for the band in general too)

Definately one of my favourite bands:)

Love Maximo, they were incredible at ****** last year. The lead singer is a nutcase

Hard to say which album is better though, they're similar in sound but the 2nd is emotionally a lot heavier. Great band though, would recommend them to anyone
