Live Satellittes for Ladbrokes Killarney Fetival
    Hi Guys,

With the Ladbrokes Killarney festival main event looking so good i think its only fair that I organise satellittes to it smile.gif

The Live satellittes will start the first friday in July and run for 12 weeks every friday and will be held in the Druid Inn in mountmellick co.laois.

The purpose of this tread is that I want to try a new structure for satellittes and your opinion on it would be useful to make it the best it can be.

The structure would be as follows:
Each week entry will be just €20 freezeout with an optional top up during the break for €10.
The top 3 each week will qualify for a grand final which will be held the weekend before the festival begins and will have either 4-5 full packages up for grabs.

    This is the interesting part!
By finishing in the top 3 you will receive chips towards your starting stack in the final. Each week there will be 75,000 chips up for grabs between the top 3: 1st:30k 2nd:25k 3rd:20k
Each week someone finishes in the top three they will increase there starting stack for the final. there will also be cash prizes for the top 10% of the field.

I would like your opinion on this guys, from what i know not much like this has been done before and i think it would run well, it'd create a good bit of rivalry in the qualifiers to get the top chips going into the final and atract people to come to all qalifiers which of course will increase the pot and the number of packages! smile.gif

The idea of extra/bonus chips is good ,

BUT with 3 players qualifying for the grand final every week will you have the numbers to keep an interest over a 12 week run , I mean you with be losting 3 a week after 7/8 weeks you will have lost 21/24 players . Do you expect a player in the grand final to come back week after week spending more money every week and therefore lose some of the value of playing the Satellitte in the first place.ie get to Killarney for a small % of the main event buy-in . Have you that big of a player pool in the area or will you be relying on traveling players.

well see if the finish in the top three the do qualify for the grand final but each time they play and finish in the top 3 they will receive more chips in the stack for the final. ie: if someone finishes 3rd three times over the 12 weeks they will start with 60k in their stack. so i was thining this would make people play each week to try and finish in the top 3 as many times as possible to have the largest stack posible for the final.

I was editing my post when you replied.
I have hightlighted my new part when I re-read your OP.
I can see your point of more chips / better chance in grand final. But a player will be doing ever well if they place in every one they enter. Just say for example Player A plays 5 Sat's wins 1 is placed in two more and busts out of the other two . He will or could have now spend €150 euros for a place in another Satellite (grand final) for a seat worth €500. I am sure there will be super satellites (in the same price range ) for this event run which will not take as much effort ,time wise as playing over a 12 week period .
Yes I get your point if alot of people do this you could have a hell of a lot of seats available and a big starting stack in the grand final could nearly guarantee a seat

I see what your saying. i would be hoping to attract the incentive by not just giving the ticket on its own and by offering full packages for the top 2 in the final with full accomidation over the three nights..

below is a different structure which i used before. it ran well, i was hoping to try something new but would you think this structure would be better?

There will be 12 weekly tournaments and one final. The winners of the 12 weekly tournaments plus the 6 higgest ranked players from the 12 weeks will play a final starting with 3 six seater tables with starting stacks of 75,000 for tickets into the event with the top 2 also winning full accomidation for the 3 nights. In the event that a player wins more than one qualifier they shall receive an additional 25,000 in their starting stack for each additional qualifier won.
The Qualifier structure is as follows:
    Game type: no limit hold'em
    Reg: 8:00
    Start: 9:00
    But In: €20
Chips: 5000+500 early bird before 8:45
    Max players: 95
    Rebuys: None
Top ups: 1 per player during first break
    Top up Cost: €10
    Top up chips: 5000
Over the 12 weeks points will be awarded to each player. The highest ranking non qualifier winner will take the 9 and final seat in the final. the points structure is as follows:

    1st - Automatic Qualification
    2nd - 700
    3rd - 600
    4th - 500
    5th - 400
    6th - 350
    7th - 300
    8th - 250
    9th - 225
    10th - 200
    11th - 175
    12th - 15th - 150
    16th - 19th - 125
    20th plus - 100
50 additional points will be awarded to any player who tops up on any of the nights

PLEASE do not think I was knock your idea just for the sake of it . I see want you are trying to do . Give value and keep interest going etc. The new structure looks better , thats just my opinion .
You're big challenge is to keep interest and players throughout the 12 week run . So if I could be so bold to suggest something (feel free to tell me to f**k off if you wish)

    You're starting stack is 5000 + 500 early bird,

    Weekly (same as you )
    1st grand final seat
    2nd 700
    etc
    etc
    etc
50 bonus for top up etc

    there my littles changes..

    1st Grand Final seat
2nd points plus 1000 extra starting chips for the following week Sat
3RD points plus 500 extra starting chips for the following week Sat
    4, 5 ,6 etc same as you

but instead of six top points players in grand final put in top 5 ,
Fill the last seat in the grand final by running a loyality freeroll just before the grand final , This is a bonus for any players who have supported you (without been succeedful ) throughout the weeks have played in say 3/4 of the weeks say 9 out off the 12 (you decide the % )

The extra chips and loyality freeroll may help in getting people back week after week.

dont worry i put this post up here to get these sort of opinions. the more the better. the loyalty freeroll is actually a good idea and would def attract people to come back.

Your game is €20 + 10 for rebuy I think, is that right? And your getting 50+ runners a week? Another idea would be to up your stakes by €10 and a player a week can get a ticket, while you still carry on with your league system because the €500 ticket does not affect the original prize-pool, ie: the original 20 + 10 is still there for the prize-pool.

Also, because blind have obviously gone up since the game started, getting the same amount of chips for an add-on at the break as your starting stack is not always attractive. Up your add-on to 7k and everyone takes one.

They get 5,500 starting, if 25-50 is 1st blind, they get 110 bb's

    Say 5, levels to break, (I dont know your structure so I'll guess) 25/50 50/100 75/150 100/200 150/300.

Now you give them 5k for top up, they're coming back at 200/400 which is 12.5 bb's. Big difference and the extra 2k I advocated is attractive to the punter. Most card clubs/poker operators give a little extra for the add-on now.

All in my opinion of course

    Connie
