The amount of influence Japanese Samurai movies had was pretty thorough with Lucas. Any samurai film fans wanna tell me some good movies. Apart from the obvious ones mind you. I've seen about 20, still hooked.

I'v been meaning to do the same lately, actually. I doubt I'd have anything new to recommend, though. What ones are the best?

I know it's probably not really what you're after, but Afro Samurai is surprisingly entertaining.

ya Afro Samurai is something ya start watching thinking "this is awful". but you keep watching it, all the while thinking "this is still awful". then, when its over, ya go looking for more of that awful show you couldn't get enough of...they're the best kind of productions...

well start out with Yojimbo by akira kurosawa and if you like that i will tell you some more.or the hidden fortress by kurosawa for where lucas got lots of ideas for star wars.

of course not. i wouldnt recommend them otherwise. english subs is the way to go.weirdly tho i like foreign cartoons to be dubbed, but im weird.

Yojimbo was remade as for a few dollars more or the good the bad the ugly a few yrs later in hollywood.

awww i gota have a film dubbed when it's not something seriously worth watching. lol, does that make much sense?? like if a film is a serious film that i wana watch, watch watch, but just happens to be french, great, gimme subtitles. but when i just wana grab some popcorn and peanut m&ms, and enjoy a night of samurai's going at it over the mystical aura of Changyrzwa, then it's gota be dubbed!!

yeah i get you, but i stick to chinese films, a lot are dubbed and are full o mystical swords etc. i save the serious samurai stuff for subtitled. concentration nights. i recently saw a great american oldie horror. masque of the red death 1964.vinent price is in it.great popcorn movie.nothin to do with samurais.yojimbo is pretty popcorn i guess as far as samurai movies go.great musical score too.and plenty of scowling from toshiro the hero.
