I took out insurance for a holiday to Peru last Xmas, my 8GB Ipod (€199) got nicked, so I contacted my insurance company. Got a cheque in the post for €28 only. This is ridiculous! Is there much I can do about this? Who can I complain to?

Did u report it to the local police when you got it stolen and they you get something from them to day you reported it? Also was there an excess on the policy? Its wort looking into the policy wording.

I reported to Police straight away, got a Police statement from them in Spanish. And reported to theft within 6 weeks of buying the Insurance. I also lost a magnetic chess & swiss knife. I didnt have these receipts, so they didnt even give me money for any of these.

If you read the policy, its probably all covered in there.

Most likely this is due to an excess - and if it is, and was in the policy, you can only complain to yourself I'm afraid.

That's going off at half-cock. It might well be that the payout was fully in accordance with the policy, and that Happy Dragon has not told us the whole story yet.
