    Im really looking to improve sound quality without paying for something expensive...

    i use realplayer

    is there anything that i could install that would overule all sound outpugt on the laptop?

    maybe enhance the actual winidows volume and settings etc

    New sound card is about the best solution, admittedly it's hardware.

    yeah i know its just something i wanted to try avoid considering how pricey they are for installation etc etc

    Well if you can afford to buy all that music I'm sure you won't mind splashing out for a decent sound card.

    As above, if being used professionaly, buy a pro version of something.

    Otherwise, take your pick of the freeware.
