Forwarding port 80 TCP and can't validate for ps3 network

    Hi,

Over the last few weeks I've been trying to get my ps3 online. In between me tearing my hair out and crying myself to sleep I've managed to make some progress (I think).

I've given it a static IP address (I Think) and I'm now trying to forward the ports. I have looked at every guide and watched every youtube video and I still have not got it to work.

Now im finally forwarding the posts and they're all excepted except one.

The ports I'm trying to forward are as follows:

    TCP 80
    TCP 443
    TCP 5223
    UDP 3478
    UDP 3479
    UDP 3658

I tried forwarding them and at the save and restart screen on my router (I'm with eircom and am using a Netopia Cayman 3300) and when i tried saving I got this message:

    "Config Mode v1.2
    ERROR:
Pinhole element ps3a has conflict with internal
    Web-TCP service 80,
Either change pinhole port or redirect Web Port.
    Validation did not pass!"

so i deleted the TCP 80 one just to see if that was the only problem and it was, the rest saved fine. I went back in and added the TCP 80 one again and I got the same error.

On my ps3 if I look at my network settings the look like this:

IP: 10.0.1.23 (static IP I think)
    subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    default router: 10.0.1.1
    Primary DNS: 10.0.1.1
    seconday:0.0.0.0
    MAC address 00:15:C1:D6:SE:36
    MTU: 1500
    Proxy server: do not use
    Upnp: Not available
    NAT Type: NAT type 3

I know I have to change NAT type to 2.

This is driving me ****ing insane, if anybody can shed some light on this god forbidden thing I'll name one of my children after them.

Thanks in advance for any help at all.

Not being funny, longtimer, but have you used the search on this forum? There have been loads of threads about problems getting the PS3s online. ca't swear to it, but the consensus may have been the router being the problem. It ust be really frustrating, thankfully I never had a problem with BT or UTV.

p.s. my name is Humpalot Engledick. use whichever one you think appropriate.....:D

There is a good thread in there with all the setup required which works on the netopia wireless routers.

A few things that seem odd on your setup. I am assuming you changed the IP range on the router from the default eircom. If so, no probs but I found that the DHCP server does not like using anything but the default 192.168.1.254. Leave the router at DHCP but force a fixed IP address by giving the PS3 it's IP in the range of the router DHCP. Do not let the router set it. I had to give the PS3 both the primary and secondary DNS also. If you are using MAC address filtering on the router, add the PS3 address to the allowed list, otherwise ignore. When you forward the ports, in custom settings, set the ports for the PS3 IP address that you gave it. Finally, and most importantly, set the firewall on the router to low.

I am guessing at your level of experience but search the forum for online setup and you will find loads.

    Good Luck

longtimer, try the link below. I am using the eircom netopia and had my heart broken trying to open ports, get a static ip etc. I followed the instructions on the video and got everything working online and even got NAT1:)

It didn't work first time, kept getting username/password errors but I just kept repeating it over and over and eventually got it. It is worth a try!

Surely Port 80 is open on the router anyway, and as such doesn't need to be forwarded?

Says it in Tiger Woods too, which surprised me.

Use broadband1 for both username and password. It worked for me after about the 5th/6th attempt. Although someone else had eircom@eircom.net as their username and broadband1 as their password and it worked for them so give that a shot as well.. Best of luck, I know how disheartening it can be
