    Hi all

Having a bit of a problem with my ps3
Its like the other problems of not reading disks except mine never froze.
Played a game on saturday worked fine. Turned it off properly and didnt do anything else.
Sunday tried to play the same game and wouldnt load. took it out and put back in a few times but no luck. Read on a ps3 forum somewhere else that sony said to put in a cd and dvd and then the game which worked for me. Unfortunatly i had to do the same again today to get it working. The point im making is that i shouldn't have to do this.
    Anyone and suggestions.

Also got onto sony about this and they said to restore system settings. If i do this will I lose my save game data??

    Thanks
    Wierdal

Insert USB drive then go to the settings menu and go though them for the one that allows you to back up.

ok i did a default restore and system restore and still nothing. I know the problem is that the disk doesnt spin when put into the ps3 but could this be due to overheating or what??
    Anyone any ideas
    Thanks

Sounds like the blu ray drive is knackered. Bring it back to the shop.

was thinking that but it reads dvds and cds fine so was thinking the lens might be a bit dirty gonna try and get ahold of a dvd lens cleaner and see if it makes any use.
If not it'll be going back

    Thanks

I had a similar problem with my 360 i.e. it read dvds and cds fine but would not play games. This was due to the laser strength not being strong enough (although it could be a dirty lens also). The problem is when a game is booting up it has to hit a very specific part of the disc or it won't work. With a DVD or CD I think it doesn't have to be as specific (or something to that effect:)).

If a lens cleaner doesn't do the job you'll need to take it in for repair.
