Joe O'Shea departs Seoige and O'Shea

RTÉ has confirmed that TV presenter Joe O'Shea will not be returning for a third series of the chat show 'Seoige and O'Shea'.
O'Shea, who presented the live RTÉ One show with Gráinne Seoige, had been with the programme since its inception in October 2006. The show was produced for RTÉ by Tyrone Productions.
Plans for the future format of the afternoon show will be revealed on 6 August when RTÉ announces its autumn schedule.

In a statement confirming O'Shea's departure, RTÉ said: "With co-presenter Gráinne Seoige, Joe was instrumental in the success of the series. It is a tribute to Joe O'Shea's contribution to the show that the 2007/2008 series was watched by an average of 108,000 viewers everyday.
"RTÉ would like to wish Joe all the best and would like to thank him for his commitment and professionalism over two seasons of the successful daytime show

He improved a good bit towards the end, and became a bit less wooden, but I always felt that there was absolutely zero 'chemistry' between him and Grainne Seoige. In fact, it often looked as though she thoroughly disliked him. Or maybe she just always has a look of utter contempt on her face.

If they want to keep the tried & tested male-female presentation partnership, David McWilliams could be a good replacement.

    +1
He was excellent on that show (don't know the name) on Newstalk Radio before Eamonn Dunphy replaced him.
So he can obviously handle this sort of thing

And seoige and him know each other from his tv 3days too, but the programme will be very News'ie then, and maybe a little too serious?

Mc Williams is a Good presenter though and good all round guy too, and it helps he doesnt sound and look like frankenstiens monster on screen too :D

If anyone remembers McWilliams' excellent RTE show, 'The Big Bite' (I think that's what it was called, anyway), it was fairly lighthearted most of the time, so I reckon he'd have no problem covering the light and trivial stuff.

Your right, there was no chemistry on set between them. I was up at the set of Fair City in November and popped over to their set. I could see it for myself and had a feeling he would not be back. That being said Madam Seoige has a lot of stroke around RTE and that helped them in their decision process. Unfair I know as he did improve, but that's life on the small screen. Can be ruthless. Hope he can get into something in the future.

Unfair?! He was brutal! I wish the man well, but he's obviously not cut out for TV presenting so it's better off that he leaves. He's been given two years and that's more than enough..

The pair of them were useless. Pity the poor sap who gets stuck with the underpants gremlin for next season.

The problem with that women it seems is that nothing is good enough for her. I thought she was the weak link rather than Joe. Maybe it could be Seoige and Seoige??!?

In anyway shape or form its not a show I watch.

Did RTE ever think of a game show format at that hour of the day??
