Good price. Not much in the way of online reviews - in English anyway- but what reviews there are look pretty positive.

Joey, how happy were/are you with the old model? I don't have any personal experience with Samsung

I was very happy with the old model ( HT-Q20R ). I still use it on one of the TV's and it's still pumping out the sound perfectly. I Changed the subwoofer for a bigger one that could handle the low's better and the difference it made. I still use the original now tho as its perfect and not intrusive.

Quality wise its pretty good playing DVD's as you can use the component and run it on progressive scan. I'm tempted to buy another one of these for 99 to be honest as its a great deal and it could be handy for another TV.

One other thing it has is USB port, handy for putting in a USB key to play MP3's.

Can't go wrong really for €99, it's feck all!

    Good recommendation, cheers.
Defo need a new home cinema set-up, this one caught my eye alright, but I suppose I should really upscale to one with a DVD recorder so I can free up some space on the Sky+ box!
Funny enough, I haven't seen a recorder packaged with a home cinema - any ideas?

    Thanks

Hmm, i'm in the market for a new player alright. How easy is it to make it region free I wonder ? To google I go.

    Bingo
    1. Unplug for a fews mins the power on with no disk and wait for the “no disc” message
    2. Press Enter
    3. Enter: 8, 4, 2, 6 and 9
    4. Press Enter (player may power off)
    5. Power on and power off twice, not sure if this step is required - some feedback would be great on this.
Thanks go to Clive from Cornwall, England for testing this hack and providing feedback.

Now to just hope that works.

If it only had a video input....
Yes, seems pixmania is misleading it says
    Inputs USB socket
    Scart
    Auxiliary entry

    Outputs Video output (Cinch)
    Component video output
    Wireless Ready
This lead me to think I could put a scart input from my NTL decoder into it, and then have component out going into my plasma. My plasma has no tuner or scart, only takes VGA or component.

So currently I have a dvd recorder with component out. Then my NTL box goes to the scart input on the recorder which turns it into component.

But from the manual it seems this unit only outputs scart.

Any chance you can hook an xbox360 to this?

No video, only audio. There is one aux audio input but no video inputs.

You can output the dvd signal using either scart, component, or cosposite.

The specs aren't clear that the scart is an output but its the same on every site that sells this system.

    Hi there,

I'm considering buying one of these but it's unclear (at least to me) if the speakers are wireless or wired - what does satellite speakers mean does anyone know?

Also - Can an iPod be plugged into the USB port and used to play music and video through the DVD Player here can anyone tell me??

Seems like a great deal for a decent home cinema system for the bedroom.

    Thanks lads,

    Brendan

You can't play music off your ipod through it via usb because of the way the ipod Arranges files. You can of course plug the ipod in via the Aux input using a standard stereo jack cable that you plug into the headphone socket. Works just as well if you have a good cable.

As far as i know, the speakers are wired but I'm open to correction.
