I just changed my fta box for a combo with built in pvr.
the installer dropped the price for me because i have put a few people on to his company. but he also didnt have time to drop the receiver down to me so i picked it up.

now setting it up was easy plug in the dish, plug in the aerial, and scan for channels through aerial.

I noticed i was picking up channels like Sky sports 1, uktv history, and so on through the aerial. i first thought they were coming through the dish and unplugged it and tried to scan again. same thing i was getting these channels through my aerial they were also saying encrypted in conax?

Anyhow my question is how am i picking up these channels through me aerial?
    im living in Co Louth

It's part of the DTT trial which is almost at an end.

Those channels are only visible to the official testers.

So when you say its coming to a end does that mean i will lose the channels i am picking up like Five, Fiver, Five US, and so on.

I have just got her used to having the 1 remote control to watch all her Irish channels and sat channels plus showing her how to record onto the PVR . am i going to go back to the poor reception i used to get from my aerial?

    thanks for the reply

NO -- Five, Fiver, Five US are FTV on satellite not on DDT.

They are on DTT in UK and NI (Freeview).

Maybe you're managing to pick up both Freeview from NI, and the Irish DTT trials? Do you receive BBC etc from your aerial?

I'm presuming you can watch fiver, etc without satellite connected?

Yes im picking up Fiver and so on through the aerial. i made sure and unplugged the sat.
im thinking it might be worthwhile getting a new aerial now because before this BBC and ITV were not watchable. so to be picking up CH Five and so on with a rubbish aerial im wondering how many other channels i would get with a aerial that works.

So will the channels im getting be staying on? or are they just tests also?

Its the crowd i bought it from own brand. i had already bought a FTA box from them so they didnt charge me to much to upgrade.

Any UK channels that you are receiving from an aerial will be there forever. Any Irish channels you are picking up via aerial could be gone in a few months. Any FTA satellite programming you are picking up will also be there forever.

    Weeks?

And for a limited special meaning of "forever".
