    Hi,

I purchased a ferguson 3100 free to air receiver on ebay a while back, was working fine. Recently i added channel 4, more 4 etc and saved them. But now every time its plugged out it wipes the added channels from the memory. Any ideas on what is causing it, is the box faulty or am i missing something when storing the channels?

Sounds like its not storing correctly in the memory. If you have a null modem lead you could update the firmware, some nice new features like extended info and 4.3 pan and scan would be another benefit. There is a loader and firmware files on the ferguson site and i can also post up here the firmawre we wrote which has all the english language channels pre programmed by default if that helps

Yes as tony suggest the new firmware should fix this bug. I have came accross it myself.

A quick fix: go to installation then manual scan I think (working of memory), re-scan the existing transponder in the transponder list that carries filmfour & CH4 etc. It will now add these channels to back of your current list. So then you just need to go to 'channel edit' and move them back to top of the list.

    save & exit.

I have updated the firmware as suggested above and yes you get an updated EPG ok, the problems I have from time to time is 2 fold, 1.The box freezes and you have to reboot the box. When you do this you loose all the channels you have added or edited manually. Is their a way of solving this?

Can the default settings of the box be edited so it includes all these new channels like C5, Channel 4, Travel Channel 2, ITV 4+1 or does anyone have a fix for the freezing problem on the box?

    2. It also prevents you from moving your selected channels above or below certain other channels from time to time.. ie when you select: Menu-Edit Installation-Password-0000 and then select a channel so it goes red, when you try to and move it up or down the list ..this does not work all the time.....

Anyone got a solution for this?

    thanks

Yes you add the channels manually and then download the box data to your computer thereby creating you own firmware which you re load back to the box as default firmware. I'll search for later firmawre and post here if I find any.

    Hi,

I also have another problem with box that the remote has stopped working, but can change on the front of the box. Anyone know if firmware update will fix or is the box/remote faulty.

Obvious question but have you tried new batteries? Otherwise its most likely a faulty remote I'm afraid.

I have tried the batteries, so its not that. I will get a friends remote and see if it works.

    thanks
