Hi Dont know if there was a thread on this already but i couldnt find one.

Im just wondering does anyone know how the new handicap system is working? I have been told you take your .1's back straight away as you get them? Does anybody know if this is the case or do you wait until a new month like previous years?

If it is the case that you take your .1's as you get them how would it work for away scores? Like for instance i had two bad rounds in the skerrires JSC but still havent got my two .1's back on golfnet? Do i just take these and play off 6 as my exact would be 5.5 with these two .1's. Or do i just play to my exact on golfnet.ie which is 5.3.

    Its very confusing.

Take your .1's after the away comp. It's up to the away club to return scores to the home club. Some of them just take forever, but they will eventually arrive.

Guess you want that extra shot for the Captains this weekend. Clarify with the handicap Sectretary just to make sure.

I never got anything back from Skerries either. Ended up just submitting the scores into the away scores book at my club.

No you do not. Under the new Unified Handicapping System (UHS) Players must reduce their handicap themselves. However, players must not make an upward adjustment themselves (clause 20.9).

Please see below from Congu website that explains what you need to do.

Q.2 I have played in a number of competitions away from home this year and have been taken to task by my Home Club for failure to report these scores to them.
It is my understanding that the club hosting the ‘open’ competition is responsible for returning the scores of all entrants to their respective Home Clubs. Am I correct?

A.2 NO, you are incorrect in this assumption. The System clearly states that it is the responsibility of the player to report to his Home Club as soon as practicable all Qualifying Scores (including No Returns) returned away from his Home Club advising them of the date of the competition, venue, SSS and the CSS together with the following:
    • After a stroke play qualifying competition the gross score returned and such further information as required by the Home Club.
    • After a par qualifying competition the par of the course and the score versus par.
    • After a Stableford qualifying competition the par of the course and the number of points scored.

But you may or may not go up .1 depending on SS. If you don't know what SS is then how can you adjust yourself?

Who said they didn't know what the CSS was? It was posted with the results.

It does not matter that it is published with the results, or not. The fact is that you cannot adjust your HC up based on performance under the UHS.

I played in a comp yesterday, while the result was released, the CSS was not.....do I adjust?
