yeah the yokes that hang upside down from trees
they have algae growing in their coat and since they are herbivores does anyone know if they use it as a food reserve for when times are hard ?

I don't think there's any documented proof that one would.
Times don't get too hard for most sloths - they are not too picky when it comes to quality of food & a little goes a long way (They take an age to eat the food + can take days-a month to properly digest it)

wouldn't algae have more nutritional value than other stuff they'd normally eat

think of the effort, reaching alllll the way down to your side or back or what ever to fish up some untasty algae.
